davek1979 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Yesterday I visited the Panzertard's Midget Tossers to have some fun. And fun I did have. Thumbs up for that great server!!!:thumbup::thumbup: However someone else as well as me ran into an interesting thing. The auto hover function seemed to mess up the stability of the heli. I've never had a problem with this function in SP. Yesterday in MP, after engaging this function under normal circumstances what I got was a spinning to the right, completely out-of-control heli. After a few episodes of this, next time I started spinning I checked the dampeners and they were all switched off, just the altitude hold was lit. Are they not supposed to be on when auto hover is engaged ? ...well someone has to move the mud!!!
ZaltysZ Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 You engaged hover mode just after take off or just had power outage (due to rotors not spinning fast enough) or recently did violent maneuver or your altitude was <4m. :) Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
davek1979 Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 • Looooooooooong after take-off. • Altitude was fine. • Power was fine. Does continuous and gentle slowing down to about 12 kmph count as a violent maneuver ? :-) ...well someone has to move the mud!!!
Killin Duck Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Hi, I had similar experience but within a SP mission. For an unknown reason when I was switching the hover mode ON (with almost no horizontal nor vertical speed) the Pitch, Bank and Lateral Dampeners where switched OFF at the same time. Never understood where the problem came from... Greets
JG14_Smil Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 RCTL Enter to see your tim output. LEAVE THE FIRGGIN DAMPERS ON. :) AP buttns can turn off if in hover if too low or not warmed up enough for the INU.
ZaltysZ Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Game automatically records tracks, dig inside Temp folder and post the track to us. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
davek1979 Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 In my last few flights I avoided using auto hover. I'll only get back to cockpit in about 2 days, so if it happens again, I'll post the track. ...well someone has to move the mud!!!
ZaltysZ Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 No need for a new track, you probably already have it. If you are not constantly cleaning temp folder of game, you will find all multiplayer tracks there. File names contain date and time, so it is easy to find right track. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
=SCoRPioN= Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Only engage autohover after u have stabilized the chopper yourself and definitely have Heading Hold activated. If you dont meet to conditions prior to engaging it, it will start blinking the autopilot buttons and not engage properly. Dont do it right after takeoff, because the gyroscope needs to spin up first. Dont do it when you have navigation position fix warning by Ekran. I'm sure there are other conditions that you didnt meet, but these are the main ones. Or you could have accidently have the "turn to target" AP mode enabled, and your Skhval in autoscan mode. .. or just a tad of wind and off center trim may turn your around like a weathercock .. But hover isnt different in MP vs SP - so it's quite possible you'll experience the same again if you have the right conditions and parameters ;) The mind is like a parachute.
