Pribs86 Posted Saturday at 10:26 PM Posted Saturday at 10:26 PM Hi, I would like to request a clear visor option/addition for night flying for use with the JHMCS/HMD to allow in more ambient light in to be able to see more. Unless this isn't realistic and what they do IRL. Seems to me they would have a clear option that works with the HMD. IF it is not IRL realistic or if it has to be installed on the ground then scratch it. I'll be honest I didn't do much research on this before posting.
mkel2010 Posted yesterday at 02:15 PM Posted yesterday at 02:15 PM (edited) Or... you could just toggle it on and off. There are three keyboard shortcuts provided for the visor to raise, lower and toggle it off and on. Go to the Commands menu and use the search function to search for visor. I wasn't asking how to USE the visor. If you toggle the visor off you cannot use the HMD at all. IF you had a clear visor then you could still use the JHMCS at night, without the tint(which is wonderful for daytime use in sunlight).... it's like wearing sunglasses at night and wondering why you can't see anything. Reread the initial post again. 1

Pribs86 Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago (edited) Thank you! But like I said in the initial post, IF the visors have to be swapped on the ground then scratch it. But IF pilots can push a button or snap them on and off quick, in the jet, while flying, then it would be super sweet to do, IF that's what they do IRL. But then again, IF it has to be installed on the ground it might be more of a pain in the ass than what it's worth. Edited 17 hours ago by Pribs86 Spelling and grammar

Since DCS F-16C is equipped with JHMCS I think it would be required to provide that one, not the Scorpion helmet. I can't say I saw JHMCS with clear visor, and I saw a lot of pics, might be wrong tho.

Changing a visor on a motorcycle helmet is likely child’s play compared to this (since there is no-built in tech in a motorcycle helmet), and I for one don’t want to change from dark to clear visor while riding You need to actually take off the helmet, and then it just takes a few seconds to pop off one visor and replace it with another. Again, on a military grade helmet this is unlikely to be that easy. 3 minutes ago, Furiz said: I can't say I saw JHMCS with clear visor, and I saw a lot of pics, might be wrong tho. As someone who works on fighters irl and has 5 years on the F16, not once have I ever seen the JHMCS with a clear visor. For night flying they swap to using NVGs which is a completely different helmet (just the basic one). That thread you shared is a Scorpion helmet and does not combine JHMCS with it. The Scorpion is also a different helmet setup than the JHMCS helmet, and I believe that that helmet does have swappable visors, but the JHMCS does not. So, I don't think ED is going to provide a "clear" option just because people want to use JHMCS at night. Take the JHMCS off, use NVGs like real pilots do. You get the same info inside your cockpit. Or just use the JHMCS still at night and deal with the tint. Only the JHMCS II comes with a clear option but that is only when they do night ops and is only currently available on the F-16V. 5 1 My PC: GPU-AMD 6800XT OC / CPU- AMD RYZEN 5800X OC / 32 GB RAM 3200Mhz / 1TB SSD / 2TB HDD / 500GB M.2 / Monitor: 34" Ultrawide Samsung 1000R Curve / WinWing F16EX HOTAS / TM Cougar MFDs / TM TPR Rudder Pedals / TrackIR5 / ICP

Dača Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Some of us dreamed of having real visor for F-16. Don't take that away now. Visor is supposed to be darker to combat sun light. I even feel it should be a bit darker. 3

I was just wondering if they had a clear visor IRL to be able to use the HMD IRL. I've grown to really like the HMD, even at night, for maintaining situational awareness/direction and hardly ever use the NVGs anymore unless the jet already has them like the A-10. I definitely do not want them to be removed. This was not my intention.
