"3 times" was gone 😞

Uhm, but was it behaving differently beforehand? If not, I doubt this is a "bug" and probably more an intentional feature.

Ofc the better approach would be to just offer two variants of binds: one for instant ejection and one for pressing 3x, as we did it in the Phantom. So thats a reasonable feature request 👍

Yes, please. And for some reason ED won't do it for their own modules, so please pave the way! 🙏🏻

No, it was always 1 keybind press for ejection in the Tomcat... and I like it.

Please also check whatever internal standards exist with ED, I suspect you will find one that stipulates a 3x press of the ejection command, as it is universal among all module makers.

At the very least, x3 needs to be the default, with a single press option available for cockpit builders.

I provide 3 tracks, and this single sentence makes me have to do more work to report this bug.

Here in Heatblur Simulations F-4. The same keybind. No eject on single press. No eject on double press.

I request you remove the default keyboard bindings for this instant ejection command, as pressing 2 random keys in the F4 on accident can lead to an ejection during an immersive mission.

I am a bit confused by your last message. Let me maybe rephrase my statement a bit:

  • Thank you for bringing it to our attention and thank you for the efforts you have put into your report, including all the tracks!
  • Yes, your observation is correct, it is currently a single press in the Tomcat
  • It has been like that since day 1 of when the Tomcat released years ago
  • (I know this is not relevant for this discussion but technically its not a bug then, as it is working as intended. It is instead a feature request - but again, this classification isnt really relevant for you, I understand.)
  • Your request of having to press it 3x is totally reasonable, we acknowledge that
  • The plan to move forward is to do it like it was done in the Phantom: to provide both binds - one for instant ejection and one for pressing it 3x.
  • (For backwards compatibility reasons it might be necessary to leave the existing bind untouched and add a 3x ejection bind as new extra bind instead - will see, undecided at the moment.)

Thank you for the detailed response.

You are correct, your internal categorization of the ticket is not relevant to me, the user.

Am I to understand that.... because a feature was working as described since day one of the module... and best I can search never reported to the developers...that automatically makes it a feature, and not an unreported bug?

Despite your single ejection binding instructing the user to press it 3 times, in congruence with best I can see every module in the DCS ecosystem?

Thank you.

Yes. To me it sounds like you think we reject your request, but that is not the case. So please let me highlight:

  • Your request is valid, good and welcome
  • Ejection by pressing it 3x is the "norm" in DCS, we should and will offer it for the Tomcat
  • Instant Ejection has valid use cases as well though, so we will keep offering that as well

For F-4 (just tested two ejections), LCtrl-E is required three times that F-14 was used to work the same way prior to the Oct release.  And, RCtrl-R, it is one click to eject and it was never implemented in F-14 before.

If some users like one click, "Ejection (instant)" is needed for the F-14 key binding (I think) if users still likes old way of three clicks...   This is considered as a feature then.
