ChariotOfFLAME Posted Wednesday at 04:02 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:02 PM This seems to be common among flat screen games that added VR support later in life: something about the engine not expecting the camera to be able to have 6 DoF

I twas reported en solved before. But u fortunatly its back. (Not sure if it even was 100% gone) Hard / software testengineer. Love to find bugs.

Interestingly it reacts to left/right and up/down view change but not for lateral head tilt. You can see the effect also in HL:Alyx. Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted Thursday at 10:30 AM Posted Thursday at 10:30 AM And if you enable dynamic foveated rendering, even more weirdness happens. I do hope these issues can be fixed… Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 25H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON
Czar Posted Thursday at 11:02 AM Posted Thursday at 11:02 AM These effects are made with 2D sprites. Their axis are locked with the rendering POV (player's camera), or you would see even weirder things like cardboard effect. The alternative is full volumetric effects on everything like the clouds are. But a number of people would maybe lose VR capability as it would become more expensive. Like this: No. It can never go away. It is the rendering characteristics. If you felt that it went away it is because you didn't face it for a while. Let's also remember ED is not MS in size.

ChariotOfFLAME Posted Thursday at 07:53 PM Posted Thursday at 07:53 PM (edited) It is weird that clouds, smoke from aircraft, contrails, landing tire smoke, and explosion smoke/ debris are all volumetric, but smoke from fires isn’t Edited Thursday at 07:53 PM by ChariotOfFLAME
Moxica Posted Thursday at 09:41 PM Posted Thursday at 09:41 PM (edited) Slightly related; Those smoke coloumns shows one of the the most obvious visual quality difference between Reverb and Pimax. In Pimax' they look absolutely stunning. Rotating or not.. All the rest are sprites so weirdly connected to camera angle. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 MiG-29A F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
ChariotOfFLAME Posted Saturday at 04:50 PM Posted Saturday at 04:50 PM Pretty sure that they all use the same system and are all volumetric, but I could be wrong
