AG-51_Razor Posted Monday at 08:51 PM Posted Monday at 08:51 PM Not sure exactly where this should go, so I just took a stab at this. My "Wish" is for ED to allow the mission builder to place an AI or even client flown aircraft to be placed aboard an aircraft carrier. One example for this request would be the RL transport of P-47's to the invasion of the Marianas where they were flown off to recover on the newly captured airfield on Saipan. Spitfires were taken to Malta and flown off the carrier. Let's not forget the famous Doolittle raid using B-25's off the Hornet (A-20's might make a suitable stand in). These are just a few examples of what happened in real life and there are few limits to a mission builder's imagination in DCS if we could do this. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
waterman Posted Monday at 10:11 PM Posted Monday at 10:11 PM Hi check out the attached files and this forum link . Have Fun https://forum.dcs.world/topic/375444-add-ability-to-launch-from-aircraft-carrier/#comment-5710546 entry.lua make ai aircraft carrier capable.rtf 1
AG-51_Razor Posted Tuesday at 05:03 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 05:03 PM Thanks for the response. I am unable to read that .rtf file. What is that? Also, I went into my Saved Games>Mods>Aircraft folder but there is no carrier capable aircraft folder there. Do I make one and place the lua file in there? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Maybe Write has been purged from later Windows versions now. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
Dragon1-1 Posted Tuesday at 08:11 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:11 PM Rich text file, actually, and it can be opened in Word, as well. It might not be associated with anything by default (used to be Write), but if you tell Word to open it, it will. 1

I did mentioned Word, but it seems I deleted some text.Could also be opened in that terrible mini-office that came with Windows before, and Wordpad obviously. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
waterman Posted Tuesday at 09:35 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:35 PM (edited) Its not rocket science like creating DCS Trains Its very easy - I have now converted and attached that rtf file as a plain txt file. Its not needed it just shows you how to add more Aircraft to the entry.lua file ------------------------------------------------------------------- If you do not have the folder \Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\Carrier Based Aircraft\ then create it and just copy the entry.lua file to it. Then in the Mission Editor Select your WW2 Aircraft you wish to land or take off on a Carrier Use "takeoff from runway" So have you got it working ok now ? make ai aircraft carrier capable.txt entry.lua Edited Tuesday at 10:29 PM by waterman 1
AG-51_Razor Posted Tuesday at 11:27 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 11:27 PM After carefully following your instructions, it worked like a charm!! Thank you very much. 1 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

The best system would be one that uses landing and take off runs 1
