I was just brushing up on some cockpit stuff for the Hornet and ran across the Offset Aimpoint (OAP) functions in conjunction with the TPOD.  I reviewed the functionality of the feature, but have never used it.  What is a situation in when this would be used; a JTAC calling out coordinates from a waypoint, a follow pilot giving instruction to a target??

Seems like a lot work instead of just doing lat long.

I used it recently in a campaign Mission, to provide CAS for the rescue of a downed pilot; the pilots location was given as an Offset from a known waypoint ( the original target of the mission, that lost the pilot)
