dburne Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Hey gang, So I was fiddling around in the contollers section of the options menu, after reading a little more about it in the gui manual, regarding the saving and loading of custom profiles. So I make a couple of changes to my contol setup, and click on the save as button. I give it a unique name and save it. So far so good. However couple of things I noticed: 1: I see nothing showing me in that same menu, what profile I actually have loaded and am viewing. 2: When I click on the load profile button, nothing happens. How can you load different controller profiles if it does not let you choose to load a profile? Maybe I am looking at this all wrong, would sure appreciate any clarity on this or what I may be doing wrong... Panzertard Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 You can save your setup "from one controller" (one of the columns - be sure you have clicked it and made it "active"). In my example below I've used my x52 stick - and saved it. - Then in a new controller columns - click the column, make it active - use the load profile. - Then you should load that profile up for that new controller. Here in this sample I've used my mouse controller. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
dburne Posted September 19, 2009 Author Posted September 19, 2009 Ok thanks, I think I have a better understanding of it now. Are you saying that when I 'Save Profile' that I am NOT saving the entire game keyboard and controllers profile? I am only saving the ONE column of commands for one controller?? So, to save my game command assignments I have to save a separate profile for each column???:doh::doh: Please somebody explain this for me, because if I understand this correctly I am screwed. I just had a hd crash and had to reinstall. I did backup my game control profiles to one file, but from this post that does not seem correct, and after trying to load the profile 5 times now it is not working. I'm not even sure what controller the profile is for!? :joystick: ARRGGG! Frederf Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 The LUA in the save profile option pretty much saves everything, at least the entire keyboard keybind set. The drop down menu is just filtering.
Panzertard Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) Sorry if I've added to the confusion there. - ALL keybindings are saved inside ANY LUA-file you store. Now from what I can see in the saved config LUA file, you AXIS from the selected columns will be saved. So if you have activated the "mouse" column and then clicked save it will save: - All key bindings - AXIS bindings for the mouse, but not for the other sticks. Hence I've made separate files for my; - X52 stick - X52 rudder - Mouse (if you customize the AXIS) - TrackIR (if you customize the AXIS for it) Edited November 23, 2009 by Panzertard The mind is like a parachute. Snacko Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Thanks for the clarification Panzertard. While I don't like the way this works, at least I know understand how it works. I did make a profile thinking it backed up everything, and don't remember which column (controller) I had selected, and I just named it Snacko.lua. I looked inside of it to see and it does have all of the key bindings and axis settings for controllers, but I don't see anything that says it was for the X52 as opposed to my mouse or pedals. I guess I can just load it into the X52 column (is that how that works? I first select a command in that column then load the profile and it loads all of the commands in that column, not just the one command?) and look at my joystick and throttle curves. I know that I customized those.. Snacko Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 PS: Can I just backup this folder (or is there a specific file) to get a backup of all my controller settings? Panzertard Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) This is from my own experiene only; ..\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark is the default location if you used the "Save Config". IMO the location "\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Config\Input\Aircrafts" contains files that MAY reset/change each time you patch DCS:BS - or if you change your gear. As long as you stay on the same Patch-level and use the same gear - then you can use this location to backup and restore your settings. Snacko Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Sorry if I've added to the confusion there. - ALL keybindings are saved inside ANY LUA-file you store. One more question: So, if key bindings are saved in ALL of your profiles, they can be different if you have changed them before saving one profile. L And every time you Load a profile for each controller, it loads all of the key bindings? Let's say I saved all of my settings for each controller today. I have a profile for my x52; Pedals; Mouse; and TrackIR. Then, a month from now I changed the x52 control assighments and some key bindings, and so I saved that profile again. If I restore my system and reload those profiles, and the 'last' profile that I load is the TrackIR or Mouse, it will have the old keybindings, not the new ones because they were loaded first with the x52?
