I thought you only used an activation when you changed h/w ... this was bad enough, now it seems that if I reinstall ... something I've done numerous times on LO 1.0x, my activation key is decremented, even on the same system. Why? This is not how this reature was sold to us in the discussions prior to release ... I will NOT be buying 2 copies due to buggy copy protection!

I quote:

Please, note: - If automatic activation was failed, do not use it again – use the manual activation. Numerous attempts of automatic activation may cause the decreasing of number of activations, which is set up as 5 in the beginning. - Every Serial Number have only 5 (five) activations. Every hardware changing, MS Windows © reinstalling, Lock On reinstalling may cause the necessity of new activation of Star Force protection system. - We strongly recommend you to make a backup for “Lock On v.1.1: Flaming Cliffs” folder after installation and successful activation. You may use this backup in case when “Lock On v.1.1: Flaming Cliffs” was critically damaged (for example by third-party utilities). Every damage of “Lock On v.1.1: Flaming Cliffs” files may cause the necessity of Lock On reinstallation and new activation of Star Force protection system.

I like usage of word MAY in the above :( This sould have been written IN BOLD on every LO page and install screen: "DONT use automatic activation. It decreases your 5 activations couter!"

Why start the exact same thread you did yesterday? Isn't 1 enough to express you're displeasure with the CP (which is concern for me as well)?

Dayglow, it is a different subject ... yesterday I downloaded and installed, then got a run time error ... that problem was fixed with help you others. So I removed 1.1 demo, 1.02 etc ... and reinstall, following Matts instructions (although why, if it so important, 1.1 install doesn't check existing installs I can't understand)

Now I install (using automatic as recommended by ED software) ... and find that my activation count has been decremented incorrectly ... this is a different subject ... and I would like to know why?

you know, this blows. Apparently it doesn't have anything to do with 40% hardware change, if you reinstall your os you'll lose an activation. If you install to a different windows on another partition, you'll lose an activation. If starforce gets damaged in some way you'll lose an activation. So why tell us it is based on 40% hardware change?? Not only that the stupid starforce crap is buggy anyways. What's the point of backing up a 1.7gig folder if all it takes is a registry key to make it use up an activation?

This is rediculous.. Today I'm playing on-line just flying with some friends..My wife is by my side wondering what the hell I'm doing flying upsidedown.. When suddenly and with no warning, she farts !!!! My Pc crashed to the desktop and StarForce asked me for 3 activations.... Now I'm down to 1...

She better not fart again or I'll be roeing upstream with no paddle.......

On the Ubi forums a guy plugged in his new x36 after isntalling 1.1 and it cost him an activation that is just retarded im my opinion.

Last night I swapped out my X-45 (unplugged) for a Logitech Rumblepad2 FF gamepad (to check out the game with a force feedback JS) and I didnt have any problems.
