Boberro Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Auto is auto as itself mean you don't have to worry about aim ect. I use all time automatic control rarely manual and if I use it related to Vikhr range. Often I can fire from 7 km, but I know Vikhr can up go up to even almost 8 km. So there is better for me use manual control. Similar situation to bombs - WCS lets you drop weapons from minimum 200 m altitude, but I prefer lower drops :) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Oh I am so sorry, when I wrote about aim I thought about manual aim in gun mode without Shkval on. :( Generally adding to my previous sentence auto was built for something - to help. It calculates optimum range in specific altitude or doesn't let you fire in dangerous (too close example) situation, accidentially when you are not in optimum LA zone and u press trigger. I could forget something too so you have to wait for another comments ;] Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... ruprecht Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Simple answer: if you get a launch authority in Auto mode you know you're within parameters. Manual is for those situations where you know you're a little out of parameters but you're OK with that for whatever reason. Celo63 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 I've been using manual aiming sometimes to get a shot in from 8 km out. However, I usually find that after using manual aiming, auto aiming goes way out of whack and I can't hit anything any more. Is there a step I'm missing to realign the system after making a distance shot in manual? I've tried resetting the weapons system but it still doesn't work.

MTFDarkEagle Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 manual mode i have taken a manpad igla at range 9.1 km with vikhr-m. Yea I've done those things as well. In auto it can ONLY fire in the standard parameters. However if you are farther away and have a little more altitude, the range is increased as well, but the default parameters dont include this. That's why there is a manual mode.. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
