Kusch Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Alert response and 15-ship B-52 Minimum Interval Take-Off (MITO), in support of Exercise GLOBAL THUNDER, Minot AFB, ND, June 09. 15 Buff's in the air in less than 10 minutes from the Klaxon sounding - about 30 seconds between aircraft! 1 Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!
ED Team Groove Posted September 24, 2009 ED Team Posted September 24, 2009 Good find! That gave them around 10 Minutes time to get away before Minot would have been MIRV'ed i suppose ;) 1 Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
topol-m Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 ^^^ If the missile launch has been detected soon enough and if the missile hasn`t been launched from a sub somewhere not so far ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
wildcat EAF51 Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I think that people that don't know about exercise will scary see many of this plane [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I'm Fighter pilot not a murderer!
Namenlos Ein Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Greenpeace will shoot that bombers down before they reach the targets. 1
ED Team Groove Posted September 25, 2009 ED Team Posted September 25, 2009 ^^^ If the missile launch has been detected soon enough and if the missile hasn`t been launched from a sub somewhere not so far ;) The missile launch will be detected instantly on launch. Additionally you should update your knowledge about ICBM's. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
topol-m Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 The missile launch will be detected instantly on launch. Additionally you should update your knowledge about ICBM's. I am updating it constantly. You should also update your knowledge about the time a SLBM launched close to the shore needs to reach it`s target. Also to say "instant" detection is not very accurate - it`s more like the first seconds after launch. The currently deployed DSP satellites are doing their work but have limitations and at the moment the program do not provide boost phase detection coverage for all possible launch locations. SBIRS is to replace DSP and will greatly improve detection and tracking capabilities but this system is far from complete. Will it provide full and perfect monitoring of ICBM and SLBM launches along with EWRs remains to be seen in the not so close future when it will be complete (despite the overwhelming costs). Boberro Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I watched few movies about these bombers but I didn't see thay are so smoky so far :O Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Namenlos Ein Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Even that movie (I don't know the title)?
topol-m Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 ^^^ B-52 flying for several hours = eco-catastrophe  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

First of all, you don't want a boomer to be near the shore. Then when i say you have a instant detection of a launch and you say the first seconds of the launch, i don't see the difference. I don't need to know where the ICBM(s) launched are heading too in the first seconds, i need to know where the alarm button is. All the positions of ICBM silos are known, boomer bastions are known, where the boomers are are known too. As soon as you flood that missile tubes there is an MK 48 ADCAP coming right at you, be assured of that. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
topol-m Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) ^^^ The silos positions are known but the mobile launchers are not (at least not in every single moment). Also the position of some of the subs may be known some of them might be constantly tracked (emphasis on "some") but most definitely not every SLBM carrying sub is kept in MK 48 firing distance ;) Also in some cases the sub`s position is pretty unclear. A quote regarding the recent passing close to US shores of 2 russian subs: "According to Defense Department officials, one of the Russian submarines remained in international waters on Tuesday about 200 miles off the coast of the United States. The location of the second remained unclear. One senior official said the second submarine traveled south in recent days toward Cuba, while another senior official with access to reports on the surveillance mission said it had sailed away in a northerly direction." Nonetheless my point was not discussing the interception of the SLBMs, just the reduced time the missile will travel to Minot AFB thus coming just in the right time for party. :P Edited September 25, 2009 by topol-m [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Boberro Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Even that movie (I don't know the title)? LOOL, by the way is it fuel matter or these engines ? Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Callsign.Vega Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Even that movie (I don't know the title)? Those older B-52 squadrons must have been held to a higher standard and higher readiness during the cold war. Those took off much faster then the current video at MINOT AFB.
