I have been using the old cougar for sometime now without issue. However recently, my x and y axis are so jumpy near center line that it is impossible for me to fly the sim. Even if I manage to trim the chopper, just bumping the stick will pretty much put me into the ground. The issue of course are the pots. I could replace the pots with higher quality ones but a lot of people are using hall sensors which are extrememly accurate. I was wondering if anyone had any particular set of sensors that worked well for them and where you could buy them?

I know it's just a temporary solution, but you might want to adjust deadzones around the center to compensate the spikes.

Under normal conditions I'd recommend frugalsworld.com, but the site is down for some time now. :(

I tried messing with deadzones but the spiking is way to bad to be compensated for in that way. Problem is I dont really fully understand the hall effect or what hardware is required. I see lotsa sensors out there but I think they are based on the assumption that you are using a magnetic device which the cougar is not without some kind of modification

The modifications available for purchase are quite sophisticated and easy to install. That raises the price, of course. :(

No big secret with HALL sensors -but some myths... :P

Today they are inexpensive. Many COTS joysticks use:

Saitek X-52/X-52PRO

Thrustmaster T.16000M

Logitech G940

Saitek X65F

Beyond the traditional CubPilot kit anothers options:

MaRS by VKB: http://www.vkb-flightsimcontrols.com/produkt/mars_install.php

I don't know how buy these in Russia...

DIY option:

Source for inexpensive Allegro A1302 HALL sensor.

Good how-to for DIY use of HALL:
