Han anyone got a good graphics setting to stop the horrid pop-up without setting structurs to a high number???

I am struggling with FPS over city in the su25t (down to about 15)

All setting in game max except visibility ring set at medium / water high - changing ingame settings does not effect fPS - only the visability ring

hence looking for good graphics.cfg tweaks

I was playing with these setting for a few days now... I have found that trees decrease the frame rate as much as buildings. If you disable them you'll gain 10-15FPS. Land Lod Distance to high hits framerate also quite a bit. I think 20Km/40Km is good value. If you want trees set them to 1000/20000 (anything bellow 20000 as second value makes them look weird, as in no fog is applied to them or something)

Set Objects to no more than 20000/30000 distance (second value) default on High is 80000 which is way too much. I don't know why they set this value to 80Km as there is no way you can see any object in this game at that distance anyway?! To see an aircraft at 20/30Km against clear sky is lot more realistic anyway.

But if you want really nice frame rate do this:

Enable highest possible graphics settings in video drivers (at least as high as your video card can handle), then set highest possible graphics settings in lock-on setup, but leave water to High, set visibility range to High, BUT set Scenery to LOW. Scenery set to low with take lot of load on the CPU, but if your video card is pretty good the aircraft and terrain will still look very good.

I tested this on my setup last night (see bellow what system I have) and with these settings (1280x1024 32bit 6xAA 16xAF max quality in driver setup) I was able to play all of the default quick missions with 50/60 FPS almost all the time, oh and this is with High resolution Mirrors enabled also. TrackIR is supper smooth... rolling the aircraft is supper smooth also... no stuttering at all... the only downside is, you see no buildings in the cities/vilages, you get airport structures only and those power lines. But the good thing is I have set all visibility distance in graphics.cfg to 20000 (20Km with exception of objects to 30000). I can see airports at 15Km and flying at any level at any place on the map is just very smooth... and I like it :D I don't really care that much for the buildings if I am fighting against fighters... I guess the only REAL downside is if you are doing ground attacks and targets are in the city... you get no structures protecting them.

Flying with Scenery on high, I can push it up to 10Km distance for structures and 20Km for trees, 30Km for objects, 20Km Dynamic, Mirage to 20Km also... but... get over the city and frame rate is not nice any more... it's playable if you don't have to fight anyone and just fly straight, but other than that... it's crap. Even the HUD target designator is way too slow, not to mention if you roll quickly, and use TrackIR... just not playable any more... outsite the city over small vilages it's still good and in the 30's FPS but any larger town simply has too many objects for the CPU to keep track of.

I haven't tried Medium scenerey yet on this setting.
