Conuk Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Yep a good advert itself for 'buy some rudder pedals!"
dburne Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 If you don't get it, you may have a pot going bad in the throttle. I assume you have tried clearing the flash ( with the throttle disconnected ), by unplugging the Cougar , holding the trigger in, and whilst holding the trigger in plugging the Cougar back in. Then reflashing with the latest software in Cougar Control Panel. Then reconnect the throttle, and manually calibrate again. ( I myself prefer never to use windows calibration, I have a manual calibration tied to a profile that I point to in all my Foxy game files that I use. If it turns out to be a bad pot, and you really like your Cougar, I would definitely recommend getting Cub Pilot's hall sensor kit for the throttle - you'd never have that problem again. Conuk Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 I did reflash it. It is on auto calibration so I did try manual.... Got to the push throttle and nothing registers so won't let me calibrate it. Yeah I'm interested in the mods - was going to wait on the new thrustmaster a10 stick though - price wise to see what that is all about... Or maybe the new saitek... Or maybe just get all mods for the cougar... Decisions decisions.... Just gutted cos I'm really getting into dcs and have been using the RGE for collective and would prefer using the throttle... Feels better. Maybe thrustmaster may send me a pot or a part?!? Will see. Thanks again.
dburne Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Yeah that is a bit of a bummer, hopefully they will get something to you. I did the mods for my stick, throttle and rudders, and could not be happier - but it is a pricey thing to do... tough decision, especially with some of the new sticks out there. Frazer Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) One more then frazer if I may. What damperss were switched on while doing the routine? And the flight director switch? Thanks. This demo was flown with all dampers/stabilizers on but basicly it doesn't really matter. All maneuvers can be flown at any setting. Just fly in the mode you prefer. One seriously wicked vid, that. Was interesting to see just how much rudder-input used, and some of the manouvers had me going "what the..." :D Great stuff.I find myself very often on max rudder input. This may be because roll overcomes rudder when on max input. With other words, it is not possible to stay in symetric flight (the drift ball in the middle) when you give full roll input. Best of luck, well yeah I liked the look of the Logitech ... but once you have metal... hard to go back. Ive had CH stuff - really good but my (small) hands seem to fit the Cougar better... Is there anything I can do to the throttle do you think while waiting to hear from Thrustmaster - Ive heard the pots need `cleaning` sometimes... but with Cougar World down I can get any info. The Z axis after plugging in slowly moves down from top (in the viewer) - to I gues 43% and then stays....
dburne Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Sorry I am not really sure. I guess if you could get it open to the pot, you could try spraying some contact cleaner ( available from places like Radio Shack ), into the pot, just not sure if it is a sealed pot or not. I guess at this point probably would not hurt to try. Conuk Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 ok just had anoter look via foxy joystick analyser.... the z axis is at 50% at start... move throttle .. nothing happens.... turn RNG dial... Z axis jumps up to 57% then stays...... and dont move either up or down again. screwdriver time then.
