Not sure if its possible but how about random weather conditions in the

Free-Flight Bad weather mission?

Also if you choose to make a bad weather scenario it would be nice to have the weather conditions in the briefing, mainly;

Wind Direction

Wind Velocity (either in M/S or Beaufort)

Turbulence

Temperature

And barometric altitude correction

For the rest, looking good.

This looks absolutely brilliant Dragon... i see great value on dedicated servers bringing people together in addition to squad level play.

any thought to building training on some of the other oft overlooked /rarely employed elements:

*performing nav position fix.

*random mechanical failures/emergency redirect to new FARPs.

*unguided weapons training (cannon on soft targets)//bombing

I understand your focus on online squads, but.....any chance for some of these new missions of the high quality you have given before for us offline/single-player types...? just hoping......

and thank you for the mission pack while i am here typing.......

@ Falcon:

Nice idea... random weather.... but sadly not possible. :(

Of course, the weather conditions will be added to the briefing :)

@ dooom:

*performing nav position fix.

-> I have to take a look on it. I don't know if this is possible.

*random mechanical failures/emergency redirect to new FARPs.

-> Very good idea! But I'm not sure if it is possible to make this random.

I will take a look. Anyway I will add "Mechanics Failure" to the list.

*unguided weapons training (cannon on soft targets)//bombing

-> This can be done in the "Standard Weapons" mission.

@ Lowboy:

There will also be a SP-Version. But primarily this is designed for squadrons.

@ all:

I never installed a skin. How does it work? It will overwrite a default skin, yes?

What skin should I use for the missions so you will see your squadron-skin???

Great I love the missions you have all ready got out and this one will be Great as i need to learn how to drop bombs.

How about a oilrig and friggot for landing practice

Hmm, this starts to be an interesting stuff!

You mentioned Sochi because a lot of squads have there homebase there.

I have to fly a lot around this place so it would be nice, if eligible, for the nav flights, to fly over a bit more densely populated area. Just for eye kandy!

(The Area around Samtredia for example)

In the briefing pages there could be some explanation, tips and trick, especially for the harder training missions.

All in all i think you have mentioned the most topics, so i'm looking forward to fly the first Dragon-Training-Missions.

Sorry, the pack is basically for squadrons and they will be adamant because of there homebases.

Anyway I will try to take a nice route over citys and beaches.

Sochi is a nice place too. ;)

Yeah, I'm not in a squadron but I always use Sochi for my "private" missions too. Love the place. (And the railway is awesome for practicing 300km/h+ maneuvers at trenchdigging altitude :D )

3 Routes

Ships and Oilrigs for landingpractice.

Bad Weather:

Same mission like Freeflight with fog, clouds, thunderstorm, wind and turbulences.

another suggestion - what about high-alt ingress? i.e. teeaching systems managemnt required to cross mountain ranges (inpired by aar in general discussions). I.e. rotor ice/pitot heat/feul amounts.

do you trigger reminders for engine management systems as you approach the crossing? or are the teaching tips handled in the briefing at launch?

No, I don't have any teaching-tips. This is the job of the squadron-lead.

This would go byond the score.

In this case I had to add teaching-tips for all thinks you can practice in the missions:

- Startup

- ABRIS functions

- Taxi by rolling

- Taxi by hovering

- Takeoff from parking position

- Takeoff from runway

- Manual hover

- Autohover

- Autopilots and Filghtdirector

- Formation flight

- Highspeed flight

- Low-level flight

- Landing on ships

- Landing on oilrigs

- Landing on parking position

- Landing on runway

... no no, this would go byond the score, sorry.

By the way: EKRAN will tell you if you need antiice. ;)

... you are such a great asset to the community - thanks again. Hopefully i can contribute as much someday.

I am about to bring my current gaming squad on-board to DCS. Likely we will have a dedicated server up soon as well. These missions are going to be a fantastic addition.

thanks again.

how does a mission sound where the ka50 group must lay down a spread of

12 PTM-1 1.6 kg anti-tank mines from the KMGU along a convoy route?

ok ok ok.... i have another interesting one..:P

how about an airbase tranfer mission that requires Instrument Flight Navigation (As opposed to visual) with an Instrument landing procedure as outlined in manual pages 10-16 on? i envision ARC and ADF planning by squad lead?

that would make for some interesting squad play as wingmen get lost in the soup.

You can practice the handling with KMGU in "Standard Weapons".

No separat training necessary.... but a good idea for a normal MP-mission ;)

I don't understand 100%, sorry.... a instrument flight? You mean a night flight without NVG??? :dunno:

Maybe I add a freeflight-training at night.

Yesterday I tested this. In "Freeflight" and "Bad Weather" I set the temperatur to 7°C. In "Bad Weather" it was raining (7°C) at the airport and snowing (below 0°C) in the mountains. There you have to switch on antiice.

In "Freeflight" there won't be a antiice-alert because the air moisture is to low (no rain/snow).

Anyway it is below 0°C in the mountains and I add a hint in the briefing.

yes instrument navigation/flight in very low visibility. take-off from airfield as group with HIGH fog or severely compromised visibility and have to navigate to second af using adf beacon, ARC mode on Abris, proper PVI navigation, altitude awareness, anti collision beacons and damn good communicaitons.

i remember doing a su-27 landing in 0 visibility once in lock-on. very exciting. The manual hints taht landing in 0 visibility is possible on page10-16... it made me think it would be a great training exercise.

Does DCS have the capacity to change weather over time or is it static throughout the duration of the mission?

The wether is static.
