Brun Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Just discovered something that's going to become very annoying. Since 1.02 I've been using the Cougar's microstick (emulating the mouse) to control the target designator/TV seeker etc. For A-G use in the A-10 and Su-25 the axes had to be mapped to 'Radar Slew' which while seeming rather illogical, worked perfectly well. However, while going through the Su-25T training missions, I've just found out that control of the 'Shkval' doesn't work with the input options configured as above, but instead the axes must be set to 'TDS slew'. Therefore, switching aircraft necessitates having to re-configure the input options, which is pretty silly, considering how easily it could've been avoided. Also, there's something odd going on in the options screen itself. While setting up the axes per flight mode, in the 'ground' mode it's showing the axes mapped to both Radar Slew and TDS Slew. This isn't actually the case though, otherwise the above problem wouldn't exist. Other than that, 1.1 is all good so far. EvilBivol-1 Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Well, you have to re-configure your controls for each aircraft regardless, because its recommended that you use the now familiar curved axis for the SFM planes' roll and pitch control, but a linear one for the AFM Su-25/-25T. They will try to address this in the future (1.2 or beyond?). - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
Brun Posted April 10, 2005 Author Posted April 10, 2005 I hope it does get addressed, it just seems an odd oversight that could've been easily corrected. As for the axis settings for pitch and roll, I use the Cougar's control panel rather than the in-game one which makes it much easier to swap them around. I think ED need to look at implementing a load/save feature for the configs in future. I'm sure I'm not the only person that makes a lot of changes to the default settings, and haing re-installed Lock On an awful lot of times, it's something that I'd definately have appreciated. GregP Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Hmm, good find, Brun. I spent quite a bit of time with 1.02 and the 1.1 demo trying to get my Cougar microstick mapped to the HUD TD in both A/A *and* A/G modes, and finally got it to work by assigning to TDC slew in A/A and radar slew in A/G. I haven't had more than 5 minutes of time in 1.1 yet so I hadn't discovered what you found yet ... but I agree this is REALLY frustrating, as there's no reason it should be different for the T. Thanks for posting though, as it would have driven me crazy to find it NOT working in the T when I first tried it. I really hope this gets fixed/changed soon ...
GregP Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 bump Nobody else is bothered by this? Would be nice to hear ED's reasoning behind this, as it just doesn't make any sense. Why should ONE of seven flyables have a different control scheme than the rest?
Prophet_169th Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 I have had no problems using an X45 micro-stick in all aircraft. ?
GregP Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 You've got your microstick controlling the A/A TDC in the Su-27, -33, MiG-29, and simultaneously controlling the A/G TDC in the Su-25 and -25T? If so how did you assign the axes, in-game or in SST?
169th_DedCat Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 The problems arise when you set the microstick as a mouse/axis control, and then assign those axis to the TDS slew axis in the configuration. It bothers me too that this works for all aircraft except the A-10 and Su-25 target designators. I just started my own thread about this not knowing what this one was about. It would be a lot easier if all the target designators were controlled by the TDS axis. Asking us to just reassign this axis every time we switch between these aircraft is a ridiculous solution. Prophet_169th Posted April 14, 2005 Posted April 14, 2005 Ah, I C the problem now. I havent tried the SU25 or A10 since the SU25T.
