The worst part of Rio, and maybe the whole Brazil. Altought not even 1/10th as dangerous as some people think (I've lived for almost 8 years in Rio and never saw any shootout or something like that. But sometimes it happens.), it still kills the atmosphere of some parts of the city. It's a very ugly sight, and, even not being that dangerous, it still makes people living nearby a bit insecure (what is bad for business if you sell houses, as sometimes those shanty towns grow near beautiful and expensive areas close to the beach.) The problem isn't on the 'favela' itself, but on drug dealers and gangsters that hide there. Good news are that, recently, our police is having some good results against these.

Hope we get rid of those pieces of crap as soon as possible.

I've never played it so I'm curious, how they depicted the situation on the 'favelas' on MW2?

One hell of a film, just loved it. Very well produced and filmed, and a nice story, but it depicts a rather different situation. If I remember correctly, at least since 2002, City of God is a calm place, regarding to the drug dealers problem (at least I've never heard lately of any serious incident there, since then). It's easier for the police to come in when you're talking about a somewhat flat terrain. A great problem in the 'favelas' is the terrain. They were built on hills, and this makes access harder for the police, as it's easier to "defend" from the top.
