markbond Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 I cannot find the short cut key to activate the night vision goggles. From the manual it appears switches relating the NVH are on a panel behind the cyclic stick and so I cannot properly see them. Is there a way to remove the rendering of the control stick to access the panel behind or is there an easy short cut? Thanks
Eddie Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Same switch as you use to activate the helmet mounted sight ('H' on the keyboard). You can only use either the HMS or NVGs, not both at the same time. If you start at night NVGs will be equipped by default, but if your mission takes place at dusk you may need to get your groundcrew to fit the switch the HMS for NVGs via the maintenance radio menu.
sweinhart3 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 the nvg/hms controls brightness/contrast that are below the weapons control computer you can see by panning your view. easiest to do with track ir. Panzertard Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 If you start the mission at night - you will be equipped with NVG, and no HMS. If you start at day/dawn/evening you may start with HMS installed - and no NVG. Then you must request it from the ground crew before takeoff. The mind is like a parachute. Or get with the program and buy a TIR!;) Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
drhow Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Or get with the program and buy a TIR!;) Out As a recent purchaser of TrackIR, I cannot endorse this enough. I always thought it looked a bit gimmicky and awkward to use. I was completely surprised by its ease of use when I first tried it. After a hour or two of use and a bit of profile tweaking it felt completely natural, and the utility it adds is immeasurable. It is worth every penny. I've even caught myself trying to "look around" in youtube videos.
