Monitor refresh rate

My desktop runs currently at 1152x768 at 100 Hz, ingame is 1152x768 but only at 75Hz (CRT monitor).

Is it possible to set the ingame refresh rate to the same refresh rate as the desktop?

I've looked into the graphics.cfg file and found the resolution but i didn't see a refresh rate setting.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind combat pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

It's most likely not the question of LO, but your driver setting. Go into driver panel and set refresh rate for FULL SCREEN 3D, since many drivers keep desktop (2D) and games (3D) vertical refresh, separate.

Hope this helps.

Some games offer manual refresh rate in their options, anothers not. Maybe try RivaTuner and set your refresh rate, i used this looong time ago, I know it has several refresh options. IMHO it is driver settings only, nothing more.

Can't find any refresh rate setting for full screen 3D (nVidia). Look about everywhere, nVidia Control Panel, RivaTuner, even nHancer... no joy. Game still switches to 75Hz.

Can somebody put me on track to this setting if it should exist?

Try PowerStrip. There is tab where you set up refresh rate. Do not try set un-normal values cos your monitor will damage.

As I see you run a game in same resolution as it is normally, you just set up 100Hz for default resolution in game (this 1152x768) in PowerStrip Settings.

This is screenshot of nVidia settings for refresh rate:

Thx Boberro but that does not help, i got already 100Hz there but LockOn changes always back to 75Hz.

I tried both... no joy. Game always switches back to 75Hz (and back to 100Hz when quitting and going back to desktop).

PowerStrip should work, I've seen many opinions it does work in games.

Maybe problem is V-sync on...

Nope it doesn't do the trick, been there already.

What does work is setting the desktop to 85Hz and then the game stays on 85Hz too (even without Powerstrip or DXdiag). The moment i set the desktop to 100 Hz, LockOn switches back to 75 Hz. Weird.

But if i select "hide unsupported freqencies" in the control panel, i can't select 100Hz, 85 is max freq then. But that seems to be the limited by the graphicscard, not the monitor because it's specs give freq's up to 200Hz.

Good explenation Kuky but... other sims do run at 100Hz when my desktop sits at 100Hz, just LockOn won't...

Ain't a big problem, just wanted to know if there was a solution.

don't you say... no idea then really, I thought I had it

I know that in ATI catalyst Control Centre there was setting to force 3D applications to run desktop resolution, I just checked for that now and in latest Catalyst 9.11 I can't find this setting any more, bur it's definitely there is previous versions, maybe Nvidia driver pannel has same thing.

Download correct (the more exact the better) driver for monitor, instead of using generic. Obviously, Windows reset your freq. setting since they can't "see" 100Hz, most probably due monitor driver...

I'll check the driver, currently i'm running the Windows generic...
