refund?

If I was a game developer, I think i would reply to a forum post like this very quickly with the intent of solving the problem or addressing the issue as soon as possible. "what is your problem and how can we help you figure it out?". Issues with software should not be addressed buy other forum members. They should be solved buy the developers. If the company is that busy then they are under staffed, or think that they can afford to put off the end user. What ever happened to tech support?

I got the attention of the develop team now, maybe this issue can be fixed.

My system is an AMD Athlon 2700+ at 2.17Ghz Asus A7v8x board (Via kt400 chipset) 512MB Ram, Geforce fx5900XT video card. And windows 2003 Server (unsupported i am sure)

What makes this game unplayable is the fact that I only got this patch for online play. 9 times out of 10 I press fly after joining an online game and by the time i am in the plane I have selected I am no longer connected to the server. I rejoin and have a ping of 0 and can not join the multiplayer game. I thought it was a network issue so i tested everything. Things worked great until i installed flaming cliffs. I can send log files for the game if you need them.

You would, but you dont seem to provide enough information. And troubleshooting over an internet forum is difficult.

There are many culprits it seems, but the RAM mights be the biggest. If it is taking too long to load, and you time out..........? Thats what it sounds like.

You already did but for your lag of reading here you go and PLEASE READ the message on the bottom!

playerName = "noname";

idleTimeout = 120;

Rise these parameters for a server and client (timeout kick may be caused both - from a server and from a client).

After testing with several online players with the same props I actually KNOW this will help!)

What we tried is putting the gameTimeout to 600 and idleTimeout to 600. All players that had the problem could now play without problems.

Does this also explain the 0 ping after the rejoin? I join the server with a ping of about 100 normally then after I get dropped and rejoin the game I have a 0 ping.

Support over the internet is very easy, I just need to know what information they need. If ED can't give support over the internet then maybe they need to find some technical support specialists that can. I realize that this is new software and there are going to be problems, But really If you can't handle the support of your software then you should find somebody that can.

I have done all of these tweaks, I will admit that I set my game timeout to 500 and not 600. I have changed my gametimeout to 600 now, off to try it.

remember that this changes have to be done on the SERVER as well!! So when you join a server on HL, my guess is that you have about 1% chance to hit one that made these changes. For now at least till others start using these changes as well. Dont think 500 or 600 makes any difference.

And what is the problem with 0 ping???? I really still dont see what the problem with that is. As long as you can join without lag, a ping of 0 is something visual and not a real problem. When you get a ping of over 300 or 400, now that's a problem! :)

Thats my issue one of my issues if a gig of ram was required for online play then they should have put that in the requirements for lockon 1.1, I realize that if ram is the issue there is no software fix for it. But maybe next time they will state that a 1 gig of ram for online play.

Its eighter 1 gig of ram (faster loadingtime during mission entering) or changing the timeout-settings in the Config.lua on both server and client. Its your choice, but the same issue.

Of all games, you should know that especially in the flightsims, the hardware requirements are quite high. Seriously, every serious gamer should have at least 1 gig of ram.

Although 1.02 ran 'playable' on an old system of mine.

The online problem is not a memory one. You need to reinstall lock on fresh (1.00) and then install the addon. It solved my online game timeout problem (get into a game and realize you are not connected), and the long loading times. Much faster mission loading now.

That doesnt seem like a very good answer to me. I think the better answer would be "We are currently having trouble with paypal that we are working to get resolved as quickly as possible. We well let you know when this issue is resolved. sorry for the trouble and inconvenience this may have caused you."

Dont you think?
