Jona33
The AH-1Z will have the ability to carry two wingtip sidewinders I think. Here's a picture from Bell's website. Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing
EtherealN
Yes, AFAIK the marines use it as a self-escort capability for their choppers. Part of the upgrade package was extended stub wings & AIM-9 on the wingtips.
Bucic
AIR TO AIR HELICOPTER COMBAT http://www.mediafire.com/?a6c39qvv8wophsd ATTACK HELICOPTER OPERATIONS http://www.mediafire.com/?fqwovqvz09qi716 Keep in mind that the main RL policy IRL is to stay alive so if your A2A helo skills are piss poor your policy should be to avoid enemy helicopters regardless of what the most fancy of RL field manuals says. power5
A-10 has greater combat and cruise speeds than Super Tucano. No where in the A10 manual does it say to get to speeds in excess of 350 before launching Aim9. Just launching an AAM at a bogey would be enough to get some separation and maybe get him to break off an attack. Isegrim
A different version KA-50 vs other Helicopter if you got friendly Sams on your side close to you why fire a Vikhr just FIND the enemy FIRST:music_whistling: Lase them when they are out of their Weapon Range. Make sure the Helicopter follows you or you get a laser warning. Run away at around 230-250km/h Heading your next friendly Sam and fly above it heading on . Test by pressing L (Laser warning reset) the enemy still follows you. Pro: -doesnt need ammo -sometimes works against real Players  Contra: - difficult - tricky - needs sometimes much time when enemy is not following you how you want it. yeah its special but funny :megalol: Edited August 22, 2011 by Isegrim "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom

EtherealN
Just launching an AAM at a bogey would be enough to get some separation and maybe get him to break off an attack. This is actually a good point. The A-10 isn't meant to tango with air targets, and if you can use an AIM-9 to cause him to break off and then use that moment to mask yourself and run, that's all good. Especially since there are very few fixed-wings you'd expect to have much of a chance against - even a Frog would likely eat you fairly easily through it's greater speed. Nailing choppers, however, is tonnes of fun, and if they have a turret-mounted autocannon it might be worth using the separation the AIM-9 allows rather than getting very close for a GAU-8 run. (But that's for when you value your life, in-sim there's few things that are as fun as obliterating a chopper with the GAU. :D ) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
