phalcon51 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I just bought a new computer and would like to know if Flaming Cliffs will load and play properly on Win 7 64 bit OS. Amazon.com has FC listed as compatible with XP, but nothing about Vista or Win 7 64. I have an original version of FC, but the early version StarForce copy protection is not compatible with the OS apparently as it won't even load. Thanks Gary
Frazer Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 It will run....after some little trouble shooting. Buy it, you can't go wrong with the upcoming FC 2.0 update. Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
AustinN360 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Phalcon, don't worry mate. FC works fine on Win7 64. What you need to do is to download the SFupdate patch that will update Starforce for use on the new OS! You can find it here: http://www.star-force.com/support/sfdrvup.zip
Joe Kurr Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 For a step-by-step tutorial to install FC on Win7, have a look here: http://www.dutch-flankers.nl/wiki/index.php?title=Installing_Flaming_Cliffs_on_Windows_7 Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
Focka Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) I'm haveing a problem i followed the step-by-step you linked joe, but for some unknown reason every time i install starforce through the CD when i reboot it i get a start up error and it has to repair start up. When i finally get to go update starforce it's says there's no starforce installed? wtf. so then tryed it again through the cd but this time i didn't reboot, i just updated it then rebooted it. Then it says "Starforce driver is disabled" i ignored it and checked if it worked but it still didn't work. i even tried to update it one more time but it still didn't work. Joe Kurr Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Did you install everything with administrator priviliges? (right click on the .exe file --> run as administrator) If you didn't, chances are that not all files were installed due to limited permissions for standard user accounts. I have installed on two PCs now - one for testing and developing, and one for flying, and haven't had any problems with it. Both systems are running Win7 x64 Ultimate. Thanks for the pint Coolts :) FYI, the old Flanker 2.0 music is also still in there. Go to your Lockon/Sounds/Music folder, and make a backup of Main.ogg. Now copy MusicIntro.ogg over the original Main.ogg, and you're done :) Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
