I have a little money which are wish to spend on one of two things i like. It's either gonna be spend on hunting gear or some equipment for my computer.

At the moment i only have a joystick (Saitek Cyborg evo). I was considering to buy a TrackIR, or maybe rudder pedals (mostly the first).

Considering i only have Lo-FC, i'm thinking of i can save some money on buying an older version regarding i can cut of some of the dimensions (isn't it 3 dimension Lo-FC supports? up/down, left/right and closer/further?). What about buying a used?

i have something that looks like 150-200€ (1000-1400 dk.)

Being a hobby hunter myself I'd probably go for the hunting gear, and if you really want to you can build your own FreeTrack headtracker to play around with before going for the real deal (Naturalpoint TrackIR).

Regardless, hunting is fun - but so is flying with a headtracker =)

Maybe you should try to find a used TrackIR 3 with vector expansion or a TrackIR 4. Spending all that dough on a brand new TrackIR 5 might be unecessary.

Yeah, I'd agree with Boulund (though I'm not a hunter myself). Get the hunting kit, then build yourself a FreeTrack or Cachya kit. After that, save up for a pedal set and (if you find yourself liking the headtracking stuff) look into a TrackIR.

I went straight for the TrackIR once I started flying DCS, and in spite of being very good at using the mouse for view the difference was remarkable. It's just so much more natural to look around with your head rather than your left hand. But for actual precise control of the aircraft I'd say pedals are a bigger deal.

I recommend to build own FreeTrack or Cachya. I have built my FreeTrack long time ago and it is still in good condition. Saved money you can spend for girlor new ED product.

I vote no for NP monopol.

I'd have to say go with the TrackIR and buy the most recent model. I'm still on a TrackIR 3 I bought years ago and its still going strong and has served me well. Buy the best you can now and it will give you years of use.

I'm staying with Freetrack, but i need a little help.

Their site recommend osram sfh845p, but none in denmark have them on sale, so i was wondering if anyone might know similar IR LED with a high light field.

I just bought regular narrow-angle IR LEDs (for remote controls) and filed them down with some sandpaper. It works equally well with a nail file. File them down almost to the filament (i.e. make the front/top all flat).

As long as your LEDs are IR-LEDs with a wavelength of 940nm or something like that you should be home free.

It's more a less the same, except TIR has a wider & longer range compared to FreeTrack... currently using TIR with IR led that I used in FreeTrack.
