English voices?

I just tried to fly my first campaigne mission. It's the one where you follow the Mi-24 around to learn the lay of the land. Only issues is that the pilot speaks Russian. All the other voice coms are in english, is there any way to get him in english too?

Technically, yes: replace the audio tracks in the miz files. However, you'd have to record your own. So practically speaking: no.

 

Also, I predict a new flamewar between the people who want russian speech for immersion and those who want english, german, french and spanish speech for understanding. :P

Immersion is fine and dandy, but if it comes between play and immersion, I'll take the better game play. It's not a huge deal. Not as bad as playing STALKER. At least here I have subtext to read and understand whats going on. In STALKER everyone speaks Russian except main characters. Makes it tough to understand some of the other things going on in the game. But, I guess this is not the place for that. Back to flying! :pilotfly:

You can always use it as an opportunity to learn russian! It's a beautiful language, albeit a tad complicated. :P

Also, I believe your phonetics are a bit wrong, shouldn't it be more like "Yo ne govoryo po rosskii"?

Actually, they were two so you'd be looking for a pluralis there, and who cares if they were "fake" or not? Nas ne nagonyat was still a kickass song and that's what matters. ;)

 

Oh, and if it's "one hit wonder" it's an 11 years long and 6-studio album hit. :P

You do not want me to try to teach you russian, trust me. Basically because I know very very little. (Barely) Enough to survive in russia at those times when I don't have anyone speaking english or german around (the latter being relatively common as a second language in the areas of Russia I've been to).

 

I could, at some point, relate some stories of me fumbling about during the first week or so in that country. :P

 

Anyways, we have now performed a complete derail of this thread, which is naughty. If you are curious about learning some russian I guess you could ask for handy tips in the Chit-Chat section, since there are quite a few russians available on this forum. :)
