Maximus Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Hi everyone. I am having problem with Lockon Flaming cliff. everytime i get into flight, it works just fine. within 1 to 5 minutes. it freezes(win7 window crash pops up) crashes me back into desktop. I have done formatting the windows 7... reinstalled lockon FC patches like normally. there was no addtional mods, just pure FC 1.12... I couldnt figure what it cause because it dont give any crash details. Anyone have suggestion to fix this? Maximus Posted January 24, 2010 Author Posted January 24, 2010 Problem solved, it is due to overclocking my CPU from 2.8ghz to 3.6ghz... runs great at 2.8... but not at 3.6 :) Maximus, The only real Maximus in DCS World. :music_whistling: I am not associated to viper 33 | Maximus. he is the imposter.
Maximus Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 that does not 100% solve that issue. any tips and advice will be greatly appericated. Maximus, The only real Maximus in DCS World. :music_whistling: I am not associated to viper 33 | Maximus. he is the imposter.
AustinN360 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 2 things that works for me. First run as admin. Second try turning DEP off for Lockon. Go to Control panel and select system: Click Advanced system settings: Click on the advanced tab: Select the second radial, Click add, find and select Lockon.exe Click apply then ok. Reboot system. Launch Lockon to test. This also works with Half Life 2 on Windows 7

Maximus Posted January 26, 2010 Author Posted January 26, 2010 I have solved the problem by installing the windows XP, that will do for now. once FC 2.0 comes out, I hope it will be supported in windows 7 platforms. Cheer! you know thats ridicules to install back wards; OS to play a game that could simply be updated to play on the newer OS's... Al-so they need to up date the stupid D3D to work properly. I'm sure there's tones of Coding errors in this game.. "any failure you meet, is never a defeat; merely a set up for a greater come back", W Forbes. 104th_Crunch Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Mastiff, the game was released in 2003 and now they are updating it with 2.0 that will work fine in Vista and 7. So you can't blame Lock On when it was released before Vista and & 7. ED are actually working for an update. You don't see Electronic Arts updating Longbow do you ? :) I also setup a dual boot with XP just for Lock On. If you have a copy of XP it is not hard to do. If you don't have a copy I feel your pain, but if u do, dual boot! I can give you a hand if you'd like.

I agree with this comment, I dont want them to work on old verison of Flaming Cliff, I want them to focus on developing the FC 2.0, I bet it will be kicking arse!!. PoleCat Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Not to mention many/most people play FC 1.12 under vista and Win 7 with few if any issues in both 32bit and 64bit flavors. Out http://www.104thphoenix.com/
TRZ06 Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) I am having the same issue. It runs awesome for the few minutes that it runs, then it quits. I also notice that at about 3,000ft AGL and below the Altitude tape on the HUD goes wild while performing a steep bank in either direction. As a side note I was running 1.0 stock CD version fine with no crashes before buying and installing FC. I never playing FC1.1, as right after I purchased FC, I downloaded the 1.12 patch. I purchased FC via the website. kaiserb_uk Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Well if I might add my dissenting voice to this thread, lest anyone think it's all smiley and happy. New install of Win7 64-bit, fresh install of FC and crashes randomly after a few minutes. Frustratingly it always seems to happen on finals. But not to worry, if FC2 is going to update the whole thing. Presumably FC2 will update the game with OpenAL sound?
Maximus Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 I have Discovered the problem. I have to grant my user control on lockon folder to FULL control under your user account of windows7. I played few hours and there is no more crash!. Hope that will help you all who having problem. Step by Step to set the Full control of Win7 User account navigate to your Lockon Folder, open Property of Lockon Folder A small window will pop up called "(your lockon folder)" Property" Click Security tab Highlight USER line Click Edit Another window will pop up, called Permission for (your lockon folder) make sure Full control is CHECKED. Hit Apply button and go fly and hope it fixes the random crash of win 7 Lockon FC.
