I am playing with the though to visit Duxford Flying Legends 2010. In that region, what additionally would be worth visiting? I assume the RAF Museum London would be a good start. Anything else that is a must see?

I agree.

If you go on Friday visit the American Air Museum, Imperial War museum, TFC (hanger 2), etc.

Also - Friday is used by the display pilots for practising.

MBot, I'd suggest to get early on friday on Duxford and see all the hangars. Then, if you have some time left, watch the flying displays until it closes.

The RAF Museum in London is an excellent one as well, it's worth it.

HMS Belfast (southern bank of the Thames, west of Tower Bridge, near the tall round building) is also a nice one, even if you're not into Navy stuff.

JimMack is right - the American Hangar is brilliant! Worht a trip just for that, but Duxford has loads more too. Keep meaning to go up there again myself, never seem to find the time. It's been a few years....

As for other places -

This is about a 30-40 min drive south of Duxford. I've been around it, it was a pretty cool place to visit.

Another place that is close (30 min drive) is the Centre for Computing history. Never yet been myself and I think you have to book ahead to visit it.

About 40 miles away is Bletchley Park - you could go see an Enigma machine and learn aboutthe history of the WWII code breaking.

If you go to Duxford get there early. Acess to the Flight line closed last year at 11:30 I think. After that they kick everyone off and started the show. Bring a light jacket, even in summer it may still be chilly and windy out there.

Here are some photos I took last year

You really need a good 4 hours or so to get through the other hangers. And check out the repair shop hangers. They are usually open on the day of the show. There is also a bus service running from Cambridge station to the show if don't drive.
