Heli Shed Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Hi guys. I'm putting together a video at the moment and i have several different views that i have used and all is well, so to speak. What i want to achieve is a static view. By that i mean i want to be able to choose a fixed point somewhere and then make it 'fixed'. From that location watch the action and be able to 'zoom in' on the shark as if i was a spectator. Exactly like VFAT. So..............can anyone help? Thank you S! 159th_Falcon Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I think your looking for the F11 view option, not quite sure though. By default your viewing airports whit that view but you can move the camera across the map, zoom in/out and rotate it freely if i remember correctly. Bucic Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 If it works like in Lock On then Ctrl+F11. Then you can either look around (incl. mouse) or padlock [Numpad .] any aircraft. Heli Shed Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 Hi there. Thanks for your input. I know about the Ctrl & F11 view, but this is not what i`m looking for. The Ctrl and F11 view allows me to roam about, it does not provide me with a static location that i can zoom in and out of, ie like a spectator. VFAT is lock on model - it must be able to be done. I notice that fraser uses it in his demos. Any advice greatfully received. Thank you again, but Ctrl & F11 is not the answer. 'T' Come pay us a visit on YouTube - search for HELI SHED
Bucic Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I think Ctrl+F11 is the answer. Don't press any "roaming" keys (numpad arrows) and it will not roam/move. Simple as that. Move your mouse to look around without moving. Press [Numpad .] to padlock something and the camera will not move. To "zoom" (decrese FOV) use appropriate key commands. ALL key commands are documented. Waldo_II Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I think he is asking for a method in which the camera can be placed at a pre-specified, user-placed location in space, and the yaw/pitch/magnification of the camera can be controlled with the mouse. He is not asking for a flyby view, since the camera location is generated by the computer and the user has no authority over where it is positioned.
Heli Shed Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 thanks guys for the discussion. Waldo, you are correct. Very well put! exactly that. It must be able to be done due to VFAT and endless videos out there showing this method. Mmmmm...... Come pay us a visit on YouTube - search for HELI SHED
Bucic Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 He is not asking for a flyby view  Apparently neither of you two have tried Ctrl+F11. I can't force you to do so. Heli Shed Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 Bucic. Read the post! I have used Ctrl & F11. It is not what i am looking for. If i go Ctrl and F11, i can then freely move about. What i want is a FIXED static point that i choose (from Ctrl F11 view if you like). From there i want to be able to look about and zoom in (via mouse wheel) but not move. Ctrl and F11 allows me to move, but not zoom in from a static location. Obviously YOU have not used Ctrl & F11! Come pay us a visit on YouTube - search for HELI SHED

Bucic Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I haven't been using it much. Just for 5 years or so. Again - Ctrl+F11 and don't touch numpad keys nor mouse wheel and it will not move. If you are looking for a view that will not allow you to move about even though you are banging all over your keyboard then there is no such view ;) As for zooming - I don't remember. Example of usage: Freeflight, Ctrl+F11, move mouse to have your aircraft in the field of view, use padlock command ([Numpad .] ?) and it will rotate around to track your aircraft while not moving even for centimeter. For 99% prob. Frazer used the same solution - moved the free camera to the control tower first and then padlocked his shark. igormk Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I’m also using Ctrl+F11 for that purpose. When I go to Ctrl+F11, and place the camera on wanted place I use mouse to look around and RCtrl+Num* to zoom in and RCtrl+Num/ to zoom out. Actually I’ve assigned mouse buttons 4 & 5 (on the left side of the mouse’s body) to do the zoom. Maybe you can assign mouse wheel in the control settings to do the zoom. For me, it works, but it would be interesting to see if there is other way to do the job. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
