Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 I did install the newest driver after i formated again to start from scratch with the system. -> W7 -> MB drivers -> Nvidia driver -> realtek HD audio driver -> LO and the rest
Distiler Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) 1- did you need to update Starforce driver? 2- are you playing in full screen or windowed? 3- Mind you vsync is usually on in windows 7 so top fps is around 60 (even when it's off in the driver panel, dunno why). In XP you could easily disable it and allow for more than 60 fps. Distiler Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 I did install the newest driver off all hardware components (without Nvidia cause the newest one makes trouble with GPU, i heart) and mainboard. Those where retired from website. Install the latest official ones, 196.21. AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 1- did you need to update Starforce driver? Yes. After i formated my pc and installed from the scratch, i had to install the Starforce driver. If i would reinstall, then i wouldnt need that. 2- are you playing in full screen or windowed Full Screen. 3- Mind you vsync is usually on in windows 7 so top fps is around 60. In XP you could easily disable it and allow for more than 60 fps. When i did set everything in the LO settings to low, i have more than 60 fps on some views(looking up into the sky, more than 1000 fps, watching in F2 in some certain directions, 120 fps).
Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Ok i switched it to "Force On" and have max 60 fps.
Distiler Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) Well, I'm out of solutions :( In any case, if you still can run it at high resolution, high AA&AF, etc. and fps are acceptable, so be it. It's not that your system is slower, it's just that LockOn is a 6 years old application and it's not using your hardware and software to it's max potential. Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Everyone has an fps increase but i have an decrease and no fps change even after updating my system. Do you think i dont want to know, whats wrong with my system? The CPU is on 100 % the whole time, LO is running. There must be an solution. If i cant fix it, i will switch back to XP. Big thanks for all the help, btw. :)
hitman Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 look in your taskmanager and look at what program(s) are eating the most cpu cycles and memory and start killing non essential programs. you can and should google a list of services you should turn off. its windows useless programs that make stuff run sluggish. another thing you may try is basic registry cleaning, disc optimization, and computer stuff. give tune up utilities a 30 day trial and fix your thing. tuneup utilities is the best thing to happen to computers since internet pr0n. Kuky Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 it could be just that CPU affinity is not set properly for both cores but I don't know why that would be if everything is installed fresh (OS/drivers/SFdriver/LO etc), but by the way do set V-sync to ON all the time (you don't need more then 60fps at any time) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

Big thanks for all the help, btw. :) Well, one of my cores is also at 100% while running LO, probably it's normal because in fact it only uses 1 core, and I've never compared it with XP (maybe it's also a bit slower). But overall W7 owns XP (and DCS series run like 50% more fps). I don't think there anything wrong with your system. Perhaps you didn't measure fps correctly. Usualy max fps doesen't matter much, the low fps are the real issue, are you low fps lower in 7 than in XP? Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Yes. In average, i have an Fps loose of 25. XP___|___W7 80___|___50 62___|___40 45___|___23 and so on. i have track with certain views. I wrote down the fps of them. On a second HD, i installed W7 with all needed drivers. I used the very same track and the very same Nvidia and LO settings and also wrote down these fps.
Distiler Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) Show us a dxdiag. I'm starting to think almost everybody's LO runs slower in W7 than in XP due being old program. Perhaps it's because sound system? W7 doesen't support accelerated directsound (it uses another standard), and many soundcards drivers use that. As I said, my core 1 is at 100% too and my system is at peak efficiency and all software runs great, but I've never compared LO fps from XP to W7. Distiler Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Everything seems allright. Perhaps you could try to unplug saitek joy and rudder and test. BTW, are you using windows default drivers for those or latest saitek drivers? AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 latest saitek drivers. But they are not installed in this moment. Now, im gonna unplug and test, then plug them, install the newest driver and then try again.
hitman Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) joystick drivers arent going to cause drastic fps issues, especially on a med-high end computer. xp and lomac go well toghether, but i always played on vista. i always had good fps in vista but sound was always messed up. Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 This is strange. From all people i know, they all said they had Fps increase. So, what do most people experience. XP -> W7 Fps increase or decrease? Vista -> W7 Fps increase or decrease? How about we open an poll?
Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 On this picture, i posted, you see on the left window, bottom left side "Kernel Speicher (MB) ausgelagert 125 nicht ausgelagert 34" Compared to a friend of mine, he has 250. Does someone know, what these numbers mean and how your numbers are? I still think there is something wrong with the core so currently, im doing bios update and retry with the drivers.
Distiler Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 139 and 38 respectively here. I think it's related at the Windows core memory usage. AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
Sawamura Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 The more the better or the less the better?
Distiler Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 In principle, the less the better. AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2

hitman Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) its "possible" its your processor...i had fps like you have on my old laptops. my old asus g2p had an intel t7600 dual core and an ati 2650 mobile gpu. but they all ran on vista... xp never had dual core support, and they always ran faster on vista and w7. why its not the case for you is beyond me. forgive me for asking if you already said, but are you using an x86 or x64 o/s? you should double check bios and see if your running in dual channel mode and make sure your memory sticks are in the right slot for it.
