Simple LockOn FC 2.0 update question?

I have LockOn FC 1.12b running the on starforce security from the DVD, so I have to put the DVD in my drive once a every week.

Now I have two simple questions:

1. Can I update this FC1 DVD version with en English FC2 download version or do I have to wait for the FC2 DVD upgrade to become available in the shops?

2. If I upgrade my FC1 DVD version with the FC2 download version do I still have to put my FC1 DVD in the drive every week or do I get the online starforce security system just like with DCS Black Shark?

If somebody can please answer this, thanks.

As I am very excited about the LockOn FC 2.0 release I do not want to wait for the FC2 DVD.

In both cases I'm fairly sure it works like this:

 

Reinstall LOMAC

Install FC2

Done (and Black Shark-style protection)

 

You don't keep the FC1 system unless you opt to keep FC1 - and in that case the system stays for FC1 and does not affect FC2.

My Solution here for the starforce issue with W7 if you want a clean install of FC 2.0 and do not want to play the older versions of Lockon or FC 1.1b:

 

- Clean W7 installation without any lockon or FC product installed (Black Shark is installed :pilotfly:)

- Installed Lockon 1.0 CD Version

- No Reboot needed, do NOT start lockon, Starforce Driver won´t be installed that way

- Installed FC 1.1 DVD Version

- No Reboot needed, do NOT start FC 1.1, same here, no Starforce Driver will be activated nor installed

- Installed FC 2.0 English Download Version, launched and activated FC 2.0 with serial

- Uninstalled FC 1.1, not needed any more, answer "should starforce be uninstalled" with yes

- Enjoy FC 2.0 :thumbup:

 

Checked my registry: No Starforce entries can be found. No sfdrv01.sys or sfdrv01a.sys found in system32\drv dir.

I tried to install FC2 US version, on a PC where i never installed Lockon. And with only Lockon, i have a message that lockon 1.1 is not install. It's only after the flaming cliff installation (which install Lockon in version 1.1), i can install FC2.

Yes, many times. Works fine by default.

As stated in the FAQ already - you only need LockOn 1.0.

But with localized versions of Lockon there might be problems from what I've observed. French version seems to be one of them.

If you have a French / localiced version of Lockon you might have to install FC1 to get past the problem.

I went from a clean install of lock on from cd( no paching ) straight to FC2 no problem . oh yeh windows7 64 :thumbup:. strangley i was not at any point asked for a key ?? brought from ed and downloaded on torrent ....

It works just like Black Shark regarding the key.

It only asks for the serial key when you try to start a mission the first time.

Yes, and you find some people who said that it works with only lockon. But, Is it on a system where lockon has never been installed, or a system where lockon and flaming cliff has been installed, and remove.

 

In the case with an installation which has been removed, the register key needed for FC2 installation is still present. So a fresh install of lockon will be ok.

 

But on a new PC where Lockon and Flaming has never been install, you can't have the lockon 1.1 key which is checked to run the installation of FC2. That key is generate by the Flaming Cliff installation. Maybe, patching lockon would create the right key.

The FAQ entry at lockon.co.uk regarding upgrading paths is doubled - the new one is added but the old one (the one with a typo :P) hasn't been removed

A: Either Lock On + Flaming Cliffs unofficial add-on (you would not have to activate) + Flaming Cliffs 2.0 upgrade or Lock On + Flaming Cliffs 2.0 DVD.

 

 

Q: Is it true that bird ingestion has been added?

 

A: Yes, but it can be set on or off with .LUA setting.

 

 

Q: What would be the Flaming Cliffs 2 upgrade paths?

 

A: FC2 can be installed over any installation of Lock On, with or without Flaming Cliffs. FC2 is a separate install and does not overwrite your previous game(s). So, your options are either Lock On + Flaming Cliffs unofficial add-on (you would not have to activate) + Flaming Cliffs 2.0 upgrade or Lock On + Flaming Cliffs 2.0.

 

In some cases, it may be a good idea to fully uninstall your previous game (back up whatever you need first), reboot the PC and perform a clean installation of Lock On prior to installing FC2.

 

Also the FAQ published on the forum hasn't been updated to be identical to the FAQ on lockon.co.uk.
