topdog Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Ah you put it inside the --[[ ... --]] section this is why :) Do it like this: affinity_mask = 0 --[[ For 3-cores CPU (AMD Phenom): affinity_mask = 0 = 000 - all cores affinity_mask = 1 = 001 - 0 core affinity_mask = 2 = 010 - 1 core affinity_mask = 3 = 011 - 0, 1 cores affinity_mask = 4 = 100 - 2 core affinity_mask = 5 = 101 - 0, 2 cores affinity_mask = 6 = 110 - 1, 2 cores affinity_mask = 7 = 111 - 0, 1, 2 cores --]] sound.samplerate = 48000 That 'block' section with those markers is a text comment, so not read by the program when it runs. Panzertard Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 well i have the up to date sound font studio and wave studio, is that what you mean? If not do you have any links so i can update them. and with the two studios installed still not working. hope this gets sorted soon. Now thats a nice hint indeed. You say you have "custom codecs packs / sound studio applications" installed? Custom codec packs may interfere with the "standard Windows codecs" of course - so maybe, if you can identify some of the codec packs / software you have installed - and uninstall those. trevcart Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 ok i have tried to find other codec's but tbh i do not know what i am doing with that. i have uninstalled all of the creative sound driver bar the primary ones and it still does not work. here is my sound.lua file that is in the config folder local mapping = { global_volume = {"volume", -3}, ui_volume = {"gui", 0}, music_volume = {"music", 0}, world_volume = {"world", 0}, cockpit_volume = {"cockpit", 0}, headphones_volume = {"headphones", 0}, } sound = {} local k,m for k,m in pairs(mapping) do local vol = 0 if options and options.sound and options.sound[m[1]] <= 0 then vol = options.sound[m[1]] end sound[k] = vol + m[2] end --[[ test dump for k,v in pairs(sound) do print (k.." = "..v) end ]] should this be right? any other things i can do to resolve this? ED Team c0ff Posted March 30, 2010 ED Team Posted March 30, 2010 Up-to-date DirectX and audiocard drivers should be enough. There's a problem that FC2 uses sample rate of 44100 Hz, instead of using card's default value and many Creative chips do not support anything besides 48000 Hz. That's why magic line sound.samplerate=48000 is needed. Given you properly added this line to Config/autoexec.cfg file (I suggest adding it as the first line to be sure), and you also tried stereo configuration of your speakers, your case is a hard one. At this point I have no answer for you. We'll try to reproduce the bug and figure out what can cause it. Dmitry S. 4c Hajduk Veljko Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I too have problems with sound. Quople of guys from my squad also have sound problems. My problem is too high volume of he external efects covering things what we should hear such as Air Brakes, Flaps, Gears and etc ... The sound.cockpit_world_volume = -9.1 controls the volume of both external efect and mechanical things such as air brakes. Can we get a comand line line to indipendently control volume of the mechanical sounds and efect sounds? That feature existed in earlier Flaming Cliffs. By the way, in my opinion, the efects sound level is way too high. I fraped it today, and took 3 hours to upload for only 45sec. on you-tube. lol In the A10 SP mission Airbase.miz I found a strange stuttering sound in the IL76 sitting in the parking area. I can not find what is causing it. edit: 08:55; I found what is causing it its those 2 trucks there sounds are messed up. I think you should look at all trucks maintenance and see if they are working properly? Edit: 14:55; Never mind I went into the mission edit tools and set the trucks from 20m/s to 0m/s and moved them slightly away from the IL76's and no more sound issue. Now I have unhidden all the units and I do not see the IL76s so i can park them so they don't move other wise they taxi to the runway and take off. Can I get some help with this? topdog Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) here is my path for the autoexec. D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Config and no i dont know how too test if it is rogue or not. I've found a cause/solution for when the sound.samplerate=48000 won't work. I hope this one works for you. The images I'm attaching may get squished, if so, click on them to view at normal dimensions. 1. Right-click the sound icon in your system tray and select Playback Devices. 2. Select your Speakers (or whichever device is the one you're using with the green enabled tickbox beside it) and click on Properties. 3. Under the Advanced tab, drop the Default Format list box down and pick a different option. I would recommend 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality). You can always change it again later. Now, depending on what you pick from that list, depends what you should (or shouldn't) put in your autoexec.cfg file. If you picked "16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)": - Remove any sound.samplerate=xxxx line from your autoexec.cfg file or change/set the line to: sound.samplerate=44100 If you picked "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)": - Change/set a line in your autoexec.cfg to: sound.samplerate=48000 If you picked "16 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality)": - Change/set a line in your autoexec.cfg to: sound.samplerate=96000 You see how these values are correlated. You don't really need 96k, it's not going to really help if the source audio isn't at that quality anyway, it's just a waste of CPU cycles, but I did test it, and I was able to get 96k setting to "work" so long as the entry in my autoexec.cfg was set to sound.samplerate=96000 -- any other value than the one selected in that Sound applet advanced properties, and I would just get silence in the mission. I wouldn't bother with the 24-bit settings, I at least didn't try them, and right now I'd recommend you try what is working for others anyway. So either go with 16 bit, 44100Hz and remove the sample.rate line from the autoexec.cfg, or leave it there at sound.samplerate=48000 but make sure the Sound applet entry is set to 16 bit, 48000Hz. I do hope that helps, it certainly gives me the ability to make the workaround succeed or fail (or not even need it at all), so I'm hoping it is the trick for you.
