Rakov Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Hi guys... Hi there, I downloaded the program via torrent and checked the Hash. The install went into my F drive without a hitch. I was able to update via the key I purchased. What I am not able to do is load! A small window appears and disappears quickly. Then the main window opens, it says Flaming Cliffs 2 at the top of the window. It expands to about half my screen then also dissappears. The end. Vista 64 Ultimate lots of ram and cpu power etc. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling, running as XP Service pack 3 compatibility mode. I've never had UAC on, I'd love to try the lockon.bat run once trick... but LOCKON.BAT does not exist... any help here? Lockon regular runs just fine... as do all other programs I run.
Rakov Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) I've tried reinstalling (with Admin on) to default directory... no joy. Also tried Multiplayer... this time I get a copyable error. Rakov Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 I downloaded from the http instead of the torrent and tried to install off that... same thing. Singleplayer never opens... Multiplayer runtime error.
Panzertard Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) Hello Rakov. Let's see if we can figure this out. Can you please attach a DixDiag to one of your posts, according to the instructions here: TROUBLESHOOTING - Help us helping you. DxDiag will be usefull to get an full look at your system hardware + drivers versions. As for things you can try to do yourself: - Have a look at the same thread, look for the instruction on how to do the CHKDSK C: /F or CHKDSK D: /F or even CHKDSK F: /F if you have that many driveletters. - UAC shouldn't be a factor - but Malware protection software might be. Disconnect from internet while you test - and temporary disable any protection software you run. - Do you think you may have had a virus on your computer lately? It can be a factor - would be nice to know. - Overclocked? Disable O/C until we can start the game at least once. :) Edited March 30, 2010 by Panzertard The mind is like a parachute. Rakov Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Here is the DirectDiag... the High memory usage is from my RamDisk being installed. Going to turn that off and my OC and try again. No anti Virus, no Viruses.. System is very calm. Will disco from internet as well... (seems odd) I also looked through the event log, but didn't see much...DxDiag.txt
Rakov Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Tried with RamDisk off and my system at correct clockspeeds... I had that glimmer of hope, but it just took slightly longer for the same result. :P
Panzertard Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) Okai, your DxDiag doesn't highlight any obvious problems. Drivers seems to be up to date. I wonder if you can have a look into the "\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Temp" folder and pick up any Error or .CRASH files? You installed on F: right? Otherwise, if you installed at C:\Program Files you might find the files under "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2\Temp" (This applies to Win 7 - I hope it's the same in Vista). And I just have to ask - please use the rest below as a checklist: - You installed FC2 as a standalone product - not overwriting any old Lockon or FC1? FC2 is standalone - FC1 / Lockon is just a pre-install check. - You are sure you run wihtout any modification to FC2? I fyou have any modifications, please reinstall yet again - we must ensure this works in a vanilla version. So a few more ideas comes to mind: - You ran Ramdisk, disabling that is a good thing to test. Good. - You got a few other gaming devcies attached. I doubt they are the problem - but still, disconnect them all when you start the game. - I noticed your having a Creative sound system - you just experience a worse problem of it. Here's post #14 explaining how to stay away from the old alchemy thingy in the thread regarding sound issues. Btw - stick at default clock @ without Ramdisk until we solve the issue - it can be a combination of factors from your PC. Let's keep it as a close to a "regular PC" until it's solved. :) Edited March 30, 2010 by Panzertard The mind is like a parachute. kato217 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I have the same issue as Rakov on my Windows 7 64-bit installation. I double click the single player FC2 start icon on the desktop, and I get a small DOS window followed by an FC2 window that disappears almost instantly. The sim will not start. I tried opening the multiplayer version, and that prompted the Starforce activation. The activation was successfull. However, after I try to start the multiplayer version, I get the error as shown in the picture. I have been sucessfully running FC2 on my Win XP installation for 2 days. The Windows 7 installation is virtually brand new, and FC2 is only the 2nd program I have loaded on the fresh install. You can see that the install is on the D drive. I have since reloaded FC2 on the C drive where Windows 7 is located, but get the same results. Any help you can give will be much appreciated. Thanks, Kato. Rakov Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 That is the exact same error I had... i wrote a long post and it dissappeared, but I am up and running, here is the gist, (minus all the things I tried that did not work!) My http://www.genius-europe.com/en/produktdetail.php?ID2=51&ID=27&ID3=506 are my pedals for simming. Lock-on does not want to work with this device in the system. I tried joystick, no pedals, works. Pedals nothing else, does not work. I tried moving the USB ports... but.. if this device is plugged in, FC2 will not boot. If I take it out, it boots consistantly. I can use the twist on my stick... but would much rather my feet... Thank you for the helping... any ideas how to reach perfection!

Rakov Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 You went from 10 or 11 to 9? Lockon spent some time installing "DirectX February 2010"... Hmmm
kato217 Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Unfortunately, no luck so far in Windows 7. Tried updating Logitech wheel drivers, as I too use those pedals for rudder. Updated Windows 7 updates, unplugged all USB items in order - still the same error. Not sure if it's related (quite likely is), but FC1 does not recognize my keyboard in Win 7. I can assign buttons on my joystick to unpause and exit the sim, but the keyboard is not recognized in game or in the options screen. I tried a different keyboard too, but same situation. Wags, I tried installing Directx 9c, but it wouldn't overwrite the Directx 11 that installs with Flaming Cliffs. Not sure how to get around that one without a Windows 7 reinstall. Still trying everything I can think of. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Panzertard Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Kato - have you tried unplugging all your external gear? It can make a difference if you have found some incompatible controllers / devices. Also, another thing that may cause such symptom - bad crashes - see the big red text: BIG RED WARNING: Do NOT save your Gamecontrols configuration over BLACKSHARK.LUA. That file contains game-code, and is not intended to contain your control-config. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Distiler Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 You went from 10 or 11 to 9? Lockon spent some time installing "DirectX February 2010"... Hmmm Dx9 and Dx10/11 are different, you can have both installed. So, when the installation asks to install Dx9 press yes. You won't delete Dx10/11. Rakov Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 Kato - have you tried unplugging all your external gear? It can make a difference if you have found some incompatible controllers / devices. Do you think that will be the final word, that some devices are "incompatible"? Distiller: And my apps that can use all 3 will go for the DX11 or 10 before 9 do you think? Just curoius before I make an endeavor like that. ;)

Also, another thing that may cause such symptom - bad crashes - see the big red text: Panzer - I tried unplugging every USB device except for a different mouse which I plugged into a rear USB port so I could click on the desktop shortcut. There were no other peripherals attached except the monitors and speakers. Unfortunately it was the same result. I have since updated every driver I can think of as well. No joy. To your other point about Blackshark.lua, I'm trying to start a fresh install - no modification at all. I tried to load Directx 9c again, but when I click on install it immediately says it has finished, as if it detected Directx 11, and decided that I had the most up to date version of DirectX already. Didn't look like it installed anything. If I'm missing something there, please let me know. Again, thanks for the help. Meanwhile, I'm having a blast with FC2 on Windows XP (same machine and same peripherals on a dual boot system) with no issues at all. As always, any other suggestions will be gratefully received! Almost every game in the market will install dx9 in Vista o W7. Programs using DX10 or 11 will continuing using them, and those that need dx9 will work. Also, people, don't install in /program files while in Vista or W7! many games and programs won't work well installed there because tight security features. Alright cool, I'll test and write back, lets see if I can get this going... Wait... this version i found is February of 2010... looks like possibly the same install as came with FC2... can somone confirm that? Hmm... I guess I can try a separate install.... Is there a way to see if 9.0c is installed in tandem? Edited April 3, 2010 by Rakov
Rakov Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 Doesn't seem possible... DirectX 9.0c redis does not want to install. February2010 version of course was installed with FC2 setup. Therefore I must assume "the device is incompatible", and my pedals will not work. Any hope you have would be great.
Rakov Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 :helpsmilie:Ugh, I hate bumping, but the issue remains. My pedals cause Lock-on to not start. No other program/game etc has this problem, and I have many. Thoughts are welcome... I've tried configuring the game port...

Panzertard Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 (edited) C++ runtime errors - now this looks like you guys need to reinstall one of the C++ libraries from Microsoft. I'll try to get some info on which. In the meantime you can do the following - just in case the C++ is part of the FC2 installation (they often need to be that): - Rename you "Eagle Dynamics" to "Eagle Dynamics.old" - Reinstall FC2 in the same original location. - Rename the *new* "Eagle Dynamics" to "Eagle Dynamics.TEMP_CAN_BE_DELETED_SOON" - Rename your old "Eagle Dynamics.old" back to "Eagle Dynamics" Now test FC2 again - no new activation is needed. And now you can delete the "Eagle Dynamics.TEMP_CAN_BE_DELETED_SOON" Edited April 9, 2010 by Panzertard The mind is like a parachute.
