I am looking to buy a new computer and was wondering how this one will handle blackshark.

Windows 7 home premium

Intel Core i3 530 2.93 ghz

6 GB DDR3

Geforce 8800GT

I am getting it for a good price and would welcome any input.

It depends on the resolution how smooth it'll be. But in general you can expect a nice performance.

Fortunately for you FC2/DCS performance is more related to CPU than GPU, since that 88gt will choke in modern games/high resolutions.

I also just bought a new computer almost exclusively to play Black Shark. I just also wanted some feedback as to see if my computer will run Black Shark smoothly. I've been a console gamer for a very long time now, I kept praying that a decent flight sim would come... And it never did. So I just went ahead and took matters into my own hands and put together a gaming rig at CyberPowerPC.com

My specs: Phenom II Quad Core @ 3.4Ghz

4 gigs of DDR3 @ 1600mhz

ATI Radeon 5830 1GB DDR5

Win 7 64bit Home Premium

Is my RAM going to bottleneck Black Shark??? Will it run smoothly? Do I need to disable ATI Catalyst? (My computer is in the mail right now BTW)

You wont have problems with the processor, since I have just about the same one. (phenom II X4 955 @ standard clock). What I think is you should add some more ram. If you can afford it, go for it. RAM is very important. I've got 4gb at the moment, but I'm going to buy more soon, since my memory is near 90% when I play BS.

Awesome! Thanks for your reply. I'll see if I can hunt down 2 more 2 gig sticks to throw into my other slots. Shouldn't be too expensive I imagine.

Are you able to play the game in maxed out settings? Is my vid card going to be okay?

Shadows and water will need to be turnd down. But other than that you won't have aproblem runing BS.

Thanks for the replies guys. I decided to get this system after all, and with black shark loaded on my computer, I am getting about 70 fps. What a nice upgrade from my old windows xp system, which I was only getting between 20-30fps. What a difference!

@Pedro:

ATI Catalyst won't hurt your performance. In fact, disabling this will also remove most of your control over the graphics. My specs are below, and I have not had any problems with anything so far.

Also, you might want to upgrade your RAM just a touch. Remember though, when upgrading it is important to keep your clock up, and to manually set your RAM clock speed in the BIOS. The motherboard almost always gets the correct RAM voltages, but almost never gets the clock correct. When I first installed my RAM, my BIOS set it as 1333 MHz instead of 1600 MHz.

It's possible that Win 7 is simply grabbing the memory for performance purposes; in reality you've probably got plenty available. I think 4gb should be more than enough. I doubt BS being native 32bit won't actually be using all that much.

Yeah, while that is true though, 6 or 8 gigs can never hurt. Don't want to play it too close to the wire or your system performance will suffer tremendously.
