bought Black Shark today and only problems

hello,

 

today i bought lock on fc2. downloaded ther software, installed it and everything works very well.

 

later on today i bought black shark.

got payment transaction email, but no registration key.

 

i downloaded the software and can not start the game due to an errormessage "launcher.exe dont woks anymore" (or something like that, have a german windows 7 64 bit)

 

i heard about people here in the forum who formated they system and installed windwos and everything new :) ...... actions like tghis a a bit weired, only because 1 of many games dont works correct.

 

 

i also own many games and i dont have any problems with them, only this black shark dont wants to start.

 

if many people have such a problem like mine with this piece of software, i guess the software is buggy and not the windows system itselfs.

 

 

no idea how to solve the problem ... i read long time here in the forum, but sounds almost confusing. looks like everyone tries everything and noone knows the real reason.

btw. i tried to start the game as i read here in the forum someware in a dosbox with "C:\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" --console

 

then i get the error message cannot open.\BlackShark\BlackShark.lua : no such file or directory.

 

funny ... such a file is in the folder c:\eagle dynamics\ka-50\BlackShark\BlackSharl.lua size is 27.180 dated 05.05.2009

Try changing the directory in the Dosbox to c:\eagle dynamics\ka-50\BlackShark\

 

then try C:\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" --console again.

 

Even so, DCS can ONLY be started from the Desktop or start menu icons. You might also try installing black shark in another folder not in Program Files. eg C:\DCS.

To emphasize that point: you cannot start it through simply clicking the executable or a direct link to the executable - this will cause it to launch in the wrong directory and thereby the search path for the library and lua files will not work.

 

The shortcut should have the following parameters:

Target: C:\Games\BlackShark\bin\stable\Launcher.exe --console

Start in: C:\Games\BlackShark

i used the icon on the desktop, which bs created itself.

 

i installed it first in the pfrogram files (x86) folder, as win7 recommended at the installationprozess.

 

after nothing worked, i uninstalled it and installed it direct in c:\eagle dynamics\ ......

7. there are 2 desktopicons .... when i hit the singleplayer version i get the error "launcher.exe ist not working anymore (sounds like this ...i translated from the german error message)

Could you help us out with a screenshot of the error box when it pops up? That it's in german doesn't matter, we do have a good couple german speakers about.

 

Also, I'd like to see what Windows itself has to say about the error, the route do this would be something similar to the below (note: I use Vista so there might be differences):

What's basically happening though is that it is not finding the autoexec file and therefore kills itself, since there is a lot of vital information in that file that the executable needs. Common reasons for this to occur is either UAC when installed in Program Files (which is not the case here), broken installs (failed patching etcetera), or a modified autoexec (for example people sometimes make the mistake of trying to save controller profiles and stuff in there and then totally break it), or just a bad shortcut.

 

Which version are you trying to start? If it is 1.0.1c, did you match language versions of patch and game? (German download needs german patch etc.) Also, if it is 1.0.1c, please consider to not patch until you have it running. Patching is rather pointless if your OS is intercepting it when it tries to open that file and that has to be solved first.

fresh installation (the 3rd one).

md5 check is passed. the downloadfiles are ok.

didnt installed the patch >>>> same problem "gamelauncher stopped to work" ... game dont starts.

uac is off since long time ...checked it again ... still off (slider is at the bottom).

also installed as admin and started to play as admin .... nothing works.

 

this makes me a but angry now.

then i dont get the error message as described before, then i get the same error message as when i start it with the desktop icon "launcher.exe dont works anymore"

First time I've seen that one (most of the time it's code 5, meaning memory access issues). 90 is an error in search path - it does indeed seem to me like windows is intercepting the application from browsing through the file structure to find it's libraries. Why and how that would happen is beyond me.

 

Have you eliminated things like antivirus? (Obviously, before disabling antivirus you probably want to disconnect your computer from the internet.) What's happening here is weird. I'll see if I can find something similar somewhere.

 

EDIT: Drawing a blank. I can't find any helpful occurances of error code 90 in this or other applications. What file system do you use? Regular NTFS?

no i didnt stopped antivirus while installation.

 

one time i stopped the program antivir, because i tried this and that and others without any success.

 

while installation, antivir was alltime active. have also some hints, that the software called "antivir" dont makes any problems, but their programmers change alltime something and noone knows.

You see, that is the really interesting and very strange thing: FC2 and DCS:BS functions exactly the same way in this. If FC2 can load and navigate files there is no reason why DCS should not be able to do this.

this is what i also read before somewhere and thats the reason (ok one reason) why i bought bs.

 

maybe the german download version is broke ? md5 checksum fits 100%

 

lock on fc2 is only availible in english version .............. works perfect

 

fc2 is installed in the program files (x86) folder and it works ... thats why i installed bs also there first time

 

im a former german army aviation anti tank helicopter pilot, so im much more interested in playing bs :)

tried it many times, today after 2 hours of deinstalling, installing and trying, i tried this again without any success

sent an email to the support team, but looks like they dont find any time to answer.

 

very frustrating all in all

 

my problem is also placed in the german section, but there are not to many users and answers can need some time.

 

39 usd for something, where i have to spend tonns of hours to make it run is really worse. i guess i allready waste 6-7 hours until now.

very expensive game :)

empire worked here from the first day on :) .. there i had luck ....

 

but to be serious .... at the moment i use rome tw, medieval2 +kingdoms, napoleon, red orchestra, il-2 1946, lock on, lock on fc2, battlefield vietnam, fia 09, fifa10, pes2010, nhl 09, silent hunter 3,4 and 5 without any problems up today.

- You did reinstall, in a different location.

- Did you try to start the game without configuring any controllers / tuning graphics / touching anything else .. at all?

Not messing with any files in notepad?

Not saving any options in the game?
