Lucid484 Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Just want to bring to ED's attention a bug I finally tracked down! I played lockon on my new system for like 4-5 days straight with no lock-ups/ crashes at all.....then all of a sudden every 5-10 minutes my game would freeze or CTD. well after help from some friends and other ED forum problems I tracked it down.....when playing the game through my speakers on my onboard sound it was running flawless! but as soom as I enabled my USB headset for quiet late night play it would freeze constantly! I looked at all my error logs and they are all sound errors. my USB headset is a logitech clear chat pro.....I have no problems with black shark or any other games, just lockon. and there are no drivers for this device...its all windows based. so hopefully this will help ED in tacking down some errors wit sounds. Lucid484 Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 found a fix if anyone is interested. I went into the sound options for my head set and had to diable the 2 options for exclusive mode....aparrantly when teamspeak and FC2 were both trying to access my sound drivers it would cause random crashes. 1 Core i7-930 (2.8 OC to 3.85), ASUS Rampage II Extreme, XFX Radeon 5870, 6 Gigs MUSHKIN DDR3-1600 6-8-6-24, 128 GB Crucial C300 SSD, 500 GB Western 5400rpm Digital Green Drive,ASUS SATA 3 6gbps card.
ED Team c0ff Posted April 14, 2010 ED Team Posted April 14, 2010 Thanks for reporting! Especially for coming back with a solution :) Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
CyBerkut Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Yes, Lucid, thanks for the report! A question for you, out of curiousity... have you tried simultaneously running FC2 sound to the speakers, while running Teamspeak to your USB headset? If so, did that work OK? It's not a solution to your stated problem, obviously... I'm just wondering if it works OK for you (if you tried it.) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Got exactly the same headset as you and I have not had any issues with either Teamspeak 3 or any ED sim including FC 2 and DCS. Currently running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Sometimes I also run my music through this: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=FW-M567/22&slg=en&scy=GB Thanks anyway for bringing this up. Will remember this thread if I have any issues. And Congratulations on sorting out your issues.
Lucid484 Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 yeah alot of the times i'll route my games through my stereo by setting the windows default sound device to them but i leave teamspeak as my headset for comms. I havent had a lockups there either. Maybe tomorrow I can try reversing that. but i've been flying multiplayer and single player all day today and have not had one single freeze since I unchecked those boxes.
