MBot Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 In other threads it is mentioned that the SAMs are more dangerous in 1.1. What about the Shilka ? Does it has more bite in 1.1 ? In 1.02 the Shilka feels terribly underpowered. Especially regarding range. If you don't fly directly over them by bad luck, you wont experience much opposion by them. From all my reading I got the impression that the Shilka is an extremly dangerous threat down low, somethin I couldn't find in 1.02 at all. I hope 1.1 is better in that regard.
zeufman Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 hi in the 1.1, i think the Shilka tactic is : one lock, one shot, one kill That's all folks !!! ;-)
ZoomBoy27 Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 I think the 1.1 Shilka gets more lead on target sooner. Shilka hunting with cannon is a more difficult art. And you'll have to jink more on your egress. Mainly rudder; some flaps. But a good missile lock on then and bye bye. MBot Posted April 22, 2005 Author Posted April 22, 2005 Sounds good. What's about their range ? I know the callibre is smaller but something more in the line of the Gepard and Tunguska would be nice.
Ironhand Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Haven't been flying much in the A-10 in 1.1 But the few times I've gone up against Shilka's, they didn't strike me as any more dangerous than previously. Maybe it was because I was hunting them and on the alert. But your cannon still out-ranges theirs just as it did in 1.02. So killing one isn't particularly difficult. I've got a short 1.1 track of a Shilka kill somewhere. But that, of course, is assuming it's stationary. As a moving target, your life is much more difficult. :) Rich YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU1...CR6IZ7crfdZxDg _____ Win 11 Pro x64, Asrock Z790 Steel Legend MoBo, Intel i7-13700K, MSI RKT 4070 Super 12GB, Corsair Dominator DDR5 RAM 32GB.
Dusty Rhodes Posted April 23, 2005 Posted April 23, 2005 Been away for a week, but last I remember, there was something wrong with the Shilka's in my testing. Don't remember but I seem to think they have a shorter range then is published in the encyclopedia. Anything over 3-4 thousand feet and the Shilka doesn't engage, but the encyclopedia says it has a range of farther then that. I'll try to look at it, but this weekend is full up if someone else can look. AI now just flies over the top of it at the altitude it won't engage.
