aviador Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 I'm a casual pilot and have been wildly impressed with BS which has the most incredible graphics even with a modest $100 video card. But I miss the thrill of speed and so I have dusted off an original copy of Lock On plus the Unofficial Flaming Cliffs. LO has installed without a hitch (No copy protection. Ah those were the days!) Questions 1. Do I NEED to install any patches to LO 2. Is it worth installing unofficial Flaming Cliffs? 3. Or can I just buy or download FC2.0 (I assume its out now) and install over LO?
BrumTx Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 No it will go over a clean install of LO , I always run LO at least once and then put on FC2.0 Remember the 346 Fire Fighters, Medics & Police who died on 9-11....... Selective memory is a wonderful thing, especially when certain posts simply disappear into the ether never to be seen again, unless I have a copy of the original post copied and pasted into word documents and saved .... just in case :) Am I an abusive idiot ? Due to physical incapacity my Wife types my post's for me

Design Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 You have three main options: All patches are avaible at lockon.co.uk - Original Lock On with it's patches. Obsolete. - Original Lock On + Flaming Cliffs 1 + It's patches. - Original Lock On + Flaming Cliffs 2 - Original Lock On + Flaming Cliffs 1 + it's patches + Flaming Cliffs 2 I think option 4 is the best: you can enjoy Crimea with FC1 and Georgia with FC2. Also, still there is a lot of people that has not bought FC2 so I think you can still meet with them and fly online. coder1024 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 FC2 is a stand-alone product. When you try and install FC2 it does need to check to see that you have LO installed. But it doesn't use LO nor do you install it on top of it. You have to install LO so that the FC2 installer will proceed. Once FC2 is installed you can remove LO as its only used for the installation check. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] coder1024 72nd Virtual Fighter Wing Falcon 4.0 Allied Force Pit Trainer FalconLobby

That's good news as myy LO is installed but the disc is so old and battered that sometimes it takes an age to work. But how do I install FC2? steup-exe and then the two bins?
71st_Mastiff Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 {steup-exe and then the two bins} need to be in one folder more than likely named " FC2.0" That's good news as myy LO is installed but the disc is so old and battered that sometimes it takes an age to work. coder1024 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 folder name/location doesn't matter, just put the setup executable and data files in some folder and run setup. I believe it'll check for a registry entry indicating LO is installed, and then proceed with FC2 installation.
