GuntiNDDS Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Hey. I been wondering whether it is moddable to increase the lighting that the landing light/ spot light produces because i can barely notice any illumination from it on the ground when i have it on, no matter what angle i try. If it is moddable, where would i look ? Thanks for any input.
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I'd like to know about this too especially the spotlight and anti-collision beacon. Its pretty rare for me to ever see the spotlight. In one online mission I took off from a carrier at dark and the beacons reflections stopped as soon as I get past the deck. I think I've heard that lights in game only reflect off of objects and nothing else. http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
slimakwielki Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 I've noticed that once on nights missions mad in ME spotlights/landing lights work great, ie on distances ~90m, however in night campaigns missions they are barely visible-almost not visible at all (ie if i didnt know its default position i wouldnt even know that candle is on :) )
Nate--IRL-- Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 It's a limitation of the graphics engine IIRC. The higher the terrain, the less effect the spotlight has on it. The light on buildings is not affected in this way though, that why buildings noticably light up much further away. HitchHikingFlatlander Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Well damn whats the point of all these bells and whistles then? I bought this sim thinking I could simulate local police helos tracking the shirtless Georgian driving the stolen school bus at night. Really disappointed ED..........;) http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad

I have not noticed and was curious.

Probably, I'm not sure, but vehicles tend to have dark coloured skins though. Nate 1 Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
