I've read many post about FPS drops, but none about FPS drop when some action is triggered. In quick battles (also in missions & campaign), when you destroy first wave, text message tells you that new group is incoming. And there is a stutter. FPS drop. :badmood: Is there some solution to reduce this (beside replacing my CPU ;) )

This is because new flights/units are spawned, causing the application to read from HDD to get the resources it needs for said flight/units.

Reading few kilobytes of text is so resources eating ?

access times. Though I agree, in an ideal world these things should be loaded on mission startup :)

S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'

It's not only text which is displayed - it's also code for aircraft (route, task etc...). I remember IL2 at beginning... same problem - when airplane come to visible range, stutter happens. I don't know how they solved it.

Defrag your hard disk.

It stutters because vehicles spawn (mainly loading textures, 3d model, etc. I guess)

Actually I have similar, but even bigger problem. Precisely on 104th server, Operation Liberty (which is a great server BTW) I have often game crashes.

 

I was unsure what is happening, but it was just yesterday I discovered that EVERY time one group of targets is destroyed, and that triggers another (large) group to spawn, my FC2 crashes. In the moment that last vehicle of a group is killed, I get message on the screen that another group is spotted, and next second – CRASH.

 

Any ideas what’s wrong?

Igor, an overview of your system would help (DxDiag being the easiest) - if nothing else then to eliminate the "usual suspects".

 

And yeah Boberro, a 64kb file can actually be worse than a 1MB file in the right context - fragmented hard-drive and 20 64kb files to load can be a huge bottleneck. (I set a personal record a while ago with a Tacview that was split into 4400 fragments. :D ) I guess the issue here is that we really are tapping at the edges of what we can do with 32-bit applications - adress space is plain running out and we end up having to use the HDD a lot. I've been thinking about tossing in a couple gigs extra of RAM and running a RAMDISK with DCS and FC2 on it. :D
