IvanK Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Here is the scenario. I am in F15C running Radar Off/STBY AIM9M selected. I place the AIM9 Seeker circle on the Target. Aim9 locks .. thats fine but radar automatically locks as well ? How can this be ?
VTJS17_Fire Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Do you use the boresight mode (key 4) or visual aiming mode (key 6)? kind regards, fire Hardware: Intel i5 4670K | Zalman NPS9900MAX | GeIL 16GB @1333MHz | Asrock Z97 Pro4 | Sapphire Radeon R9 380X Nitro | Samsung SSDs 840 series 120GB & 250 GB | Samsung HD204UI 2TB | be quiet! Postal2 Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 that totaly normal !! AIM9 M,P, etc is a Fox 2 So infrared-guided missile (auto lock) on the heat of the device in his circle of detection! Friend or Foe? Only difference is that the IFF will stop is a friend. and if you use mode 3 Vertical scan sa l'aidera encore plus vite à locker tous seul sur un contact ! même radar off . That's not what he asked. Ivan if you are using the command assigned to 4 key, it's because it's the boresight radar command. If it's the 6 key for "longitudinal aiming mode" my experience (1.12) is that you'll lock the 9, but the seeker is never really uncaged so you won't be able to take your nose off him. 3Sqn - Largest distributor of Flanker, Fulcrum and Frogfoot parts in the Black Sea Region
IvanK Posted May 6, 2010 Author Posted May 6, 2010 (edited) Ok I think its a keybinding issue (my stuff up) I was trying to uncage the AIM9 Seeker head and keybinding was bringing up BST instead of my attempt to go into Longtitudinal aiming mode to uncage the AIM9 head. Keybinding now fixed. What does happen though is if you have the radar off, then lock the AIM9 Seeker head (Track the heat source in the AIM9 HUD circle) then turn the radar on, the Radar goes straight into STT on the target the AIM9 seeker is looking at. I would have thought the radar would just come on in RWS ? Sven I agree I don't think you can uncage the AIM9 Seeker head in FC2 either .... Bummer ! .... Devs might might want to fix that its a bug :) Whilst they are there then perhaps FLOOD mode needs to be fixed as well. I am pretty sure FLOOD mode is not manually selected by the pilot (in the F15) FLOOD mode should be automatic if an AIM7 is launched without a lock or a lock is broken with an AIM7 in the air. I note in the Key-bindings doc for the F15 that Longtitudnal aiming mode is the same keybinding (6) for FLOOD mode. Seems a natural fix. re code FLOOD mode to be automatic as discussed, and use the the Longitudinal aiming command (6) to enable cage/uncage of the AIM9 head. Both errors fixed in a single step :) Edited May 6, 2010 by IvanK
