Frederf Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Are you running Vista/Win7 with UAC on? Was this the case when DCS was installed?
Garfieldo Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I had the same problem after I patched 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 (I know, I know). After a clean install and patch from 1.0.0 to 1.0.2 everthing worked again.
Frolic Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 i installed 1.0.0 to 1.0.2. Yes im running vista but what is UAC? and question nr 2 what is this virutual storage, i really have no idea.
Frederf Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 UAC is user account control. Windows Vista and 7 feature that provides security but can cause problems with some programs. Running program in C:\Program Files and C:\SomethingElse produces different results. http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Protecting-System-Files-UAC-Virtualization-Part1.html VirtualStore is the "virtual file directory" that replicates a legacy (FC2 is coded as legacy) program writing normally to its intended (now protected) location. However this virtualization doesn't work in all cases and you get weird errors such as these. UAC is being overly protective and the virtualization legacy workaround isn't solving the problem so you get this error. Without UAC and virtualization you wouldn't get the error but it is a security measure.
Frolic Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 oh by the way, it worked fine before i patched it from 1.0.0 to 1.0.2
Frolic Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 troubleshooting assistance okay my install path is C: Program(x86) eagle dynamics the patch is installed in the same directory.DxDiag.txt
EtherealN Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 You have installed it into a protected directory - Windows will block attempts to edit files in there unless you run it as administrator or have UAC turned off. This means that the simulator has a tough time getting permission from windows to access and edit it's own files. Either right-click and Run As Administrator, or turn UAC off in the control panel (I personally would not recommend this since it's part of the malware protection in Vista), or install somewhere else (like C:\Spel or something like that).
