Last mission of Deployment: CODA.

After a long time of searching I can't find any target with the Shkval until I got shot by SAM. :joystick:

What can I do? :helpsmilie:

Shouldn't be getting shot down by any SAMs. Back up in that valley at 7-8km you're well out of range. Enemy Mi-24s are a serious threat though that requires prompt action.

Once the helicopter threat is down, move in slow, keep your distance, and let your wingman do recon runs from 8km to 5km distance and build up a datalink target pile.

I think that's a different mission Frederf, Coda is the final mission of the deployment Campaign, I don't recall having any enemy Mi24's in that mission.

@ Comanche: hold about 7 or 8 kilometers infront of the target area, a convoy with Tanks, BMP's a Shilka and a SAM will be on their way to the village, you should be able to locate the SAM and take it out, so you can get closer, but look out for missles lauched from the BMP's...

The mission is a bit tricky and will have some suprises but I won't tell you more and spoil it for you, if there is trouble I'll give you a walkthrough

Just as another tip: after you destroy the first convoy, stay in the trees to your left. There are a few clearings in the trees after you fly a couple of klics where you can take up battle positions. From that area there is a hill between you and the next targets.

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

sorry i know this is slightly unrelated, but aren't trees in DCS "see through"? i mean u cant use them for cover coz the enemy can see u right through the trees??? i got shot down a couple of times by stingers and stuff which were hiden behind trees... u just see a missile fying right out of the leaves! it's actually quite ennoying as i got shot down a few times like that and i think its really unfare! any way round this problem?

As I can remember there was radio command to leave the convoy and engage targets in the camp. I don't want to spoil further.

Sukhoi350, AI can see through trees and no, they will never fix it bcs it is related to game engine (something like that)...

I said that to make it feel a little more realistic. If you stay low enough, there is that hill I mentioned that will be between you and the *majority* of the anti-aircraft units. Also, watch out for the powerlines in the area.

Hope that dosen't spoil it too much!

Thanks for all the replies.

However, I just can't seem to find any targets. I simply can't see them. And no... there's nothing wrong with my eyes... :D

Of course I can turn on labels, but I like it as real as possible as I think most of you people do.

How do you people search for (ie. camouflaged) targets in an unknown terrain?

I stay low and scan the presumed target area with my Shkval from a save distance, mostly something between 6-8 Kilometers. If I can't find anything I start to climb slowly often you can see targets better if they are partialy covered by trees or buildings. In Coda however I believe I spotet the Convoy from a distance without the Shkval, are you sure you are looking in the right spot? The Target Area is market as a yellow box or line in the Abris in that mission. Check in the Briefing which waypoint is the Ingress and which the attack one. Even if you don't find the first targets the mission should go on, if you are looking in the right spot. Or use your Wingman to scan for Targets.

Hi Comanche !!

Here you have my video over CODA..

I use the 2nd line of little mountains before the Attack Point. 7-8 km of distance. There is crossing one convoy. There is another, static till 30 minutes over the attack, northwest of the position.

There is another FARP in the middle of the action, but only can rearm, not refuel...

I hope it serve !!
