jdbecks Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Hi all, I am still getting to grips with Lock on, it has quite a steep learning curve, at the moment I fly the F15 or A10 when I want to pound the dirt, just wondering if there is a write up covering the pros and cons of each aircraft? or if not would someone be able to summarise the aircraft up for me please? :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
czarnyolek Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Yeah, F-15 useless for a-g missions and A-10, not really good for intercepting other plkanes ;) I think your question have so obvious answers. ED choose selection of planes thata have various purpose and so MiG-29 is a light powerfull interceptor, Su-27 is a air supreamacy fighter, so is F-15, but for the other side. A-10 is for CAS and Su-25 is a old fashion strike jet. Su-25T is Russian kind of A-10. If you want to fly with most realism go for Su-25 or Su-25t as they have, so called, Advanced Flight Physics. All other planes in the game are quite arcadish.
EtherealN Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 (edited) Note, this is FC2 specific. Several things would change if we instead talked about the real thing. F-15C: Pro: AIM-120C. Ability to engage 4 targets simultaneously. AIM-120C. Very good energy fighter. AIM-120C. Lots of fuel. AIM-120C. Con: Not the best angles fighter. Very easy to lose all energy if not careful with your G's and then hard to re-gain in a close fight. No datalink. Su-27S: Pro: EOS. R-27ET for the mega-annoying. Good angles fighter. Did I mention I hate R-27ET's? Multirole. (Rudimentary) Datalink. Con: Lower energy and Thrust/Weight than main opponent. No simultaneous-engagement ability. Only semi-active and IR missiles. Exorcet Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I'm not a strike pilot, so I'd best stick to fighters. MiG-29 + High acceleration and agility, Helmet Mounted Sight, IRST, AWACS data link, ARH missiles (S model only), long range IR missile (S model only), range counter on RWR - Very low fuel, low missile capacity, low gun ammo, radar, limited chaff/flare F-15 + Fastest fighter, a lot of fuel flexibility with drop tanks, ARH, large missile capacity, radar, large amount of gun ammo, cockpit (IMO), large amount of chaff/flare - Sluggish with ext tanks, no IRST, AWACS datalink, or HMS/HOBS Su-27 + Huge internal fuel load, large missile capacity, HMS and AWACS datalink, IRST, long range IR missiles, range counter on RWR, radar is decent - No ARH missiles, full fuel load can hurt agility, no multi targeting ability, low gun ammo Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files

Well im not sure the eagle is more accurate but it has bigger dispersion i think. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
combatace Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Although F-15 has rotating multi-barrel cannon yet it should not have such a big shower. The area is too big probably to counter Russian 30mm cannon. Or else one should expect some showering effect in A-10 too, but thats not present.
