Battle of Britain - more than dynamic campaign!

This game has the best engine sounds I have come across of any flight sim.

Just a pity it always crashes on me :(

I will make a post over at A2A when I have some free time, as I am dieing to get into this game, if only to listen to the wonderful merlin engines and the perfect 109 engines.

I also noticed the funky cloud graphical errors, I would get funky rainbow colours all over, kinda like your vid card memory or core was fried, but it would happen in certain spots and at certain heights, outwith those areas it owuld be ok, but it was annoying, hopefully its the same thing we are on about.

I will give this mod a try when I get around to reinstallign the game onto virtual xp, as I dont think it likes my version of windows 7 for some reason ?

Hi all, could anybody let me know what kind of performance/graphics I can expect on from this sim at 1900-1200 on my rig in the signature? cheers :)

Post #89 has the answer to your question :) Read it carefully.

I'd say your CPU is comparable to mine as BoB 2 makes good use of up to 3 cores (!). Your res is higher but your GF card is better as well. So, there you go.

Start with everything maxed out except particle density. Keep Vsync OFF until you're satisfied with FPS! Use historical missions featuring massive air battles as a benchmark.

Satisfied? Then turn Vsync ON. You can enable Vsync ONLY IF your FPS is usually higher than half of your monitor's refresh rate e.g. you usually get 30+ FPS for a 60 Hz display refresh rate. I strongly encourage everyone to try a dogfight at 60 FPS at least once in their lifetime.

I have the cd for this, it is very good; although I really don't care for the between mission strategy crap. But I am afraid to install it on my new system since I heard somewhere that it will F up your DirectX if you install it on Windows 7.

I installed in on Win 7 x64 at least 3 times and I used it on that system for over a year. No problems.

Did you install from a cd or download?

I love BoBII, the "time machine" lives up to it's name. Nothing else like it on the market, if any of you guys like IL-2 give this a go... slightly less forgiving but insanely immersive. Don't let the graphics put you off, this may be an old game but its right up there with the big boys.

"Watch for the Hun in the Sun!"

Why should the graphics put anyone off? It looks like Il2, and a lot of people play that.

If BobII turns out to be your bag of tea, graphics will not bother you a bit, guaranteed. Besides the only thing really substandard, graphics wise, is whats on the ground.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6gig

Basic radiator and mixture controls as well as some simple engine limits are on the dev's list but not currently available. The only way for you to overheat the engine is to fly with boost cutoff (limiter) disabled, for too long.

That said in BoB 2, unlike in Il-2, at least the constant speed unit (CSU), 2-speed and variable propellers work as they should. Look for my posts on the subject at a2a simulations forums if you'd like to learn how to put a new life into your flying by using manual (realistic) propeller controls.
