KungFuCharlie Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Many years ago I purchased a DVD titled A-10 Thunderbolt II Historical Film Collection which was released by Lockheed Martin. If I remember correctly I heard about it on the original Lock On forums from MSgt Joe Hodges who was a simulation fan and the guy who found all the old footage and got the DVD put together for Lockheed Martin. I was going to recommend it here on the forums for A-10 lovers to buy but I cannot find any information regarding this DVD online and the point of contact website and email addresses that are printed on the sleeve no longer work. Did this thing become a relic? I have no problem ripping the DVD and putting up a torrent for you guys to download it so long as I can get some kind of legal verification from Lockheed. Any thoughts? DVD Contents The Past 1. 1976 Farnborough Air Show 2. Night Adverse Weather 3. A-10 Marketing Film 4. Joint Air Support Tactics (JAWS) 5. McDermott Special: A-10 Strafing Tanks The Present 1. A-10 Prime Integration Contract 2. A-10 Precision Engagement 3. Points of Contact
vrv Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I don't condone illegal stuff because I am a completely legitimate citizen and I have no interest in illegal things. I am in no way one the worlds largest arms smugglers and I don't have a major market in obscure countries. Those crates in my garage next to the Su-27 aren't guns...there uh vegetables. The DVD has some cool things like the JAWS, Strafing, PIM, PE and PoC that would be extremely interesting. Bwaze Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 DVD must be fairly new if PE is on. Any more info on the DVD box? But yes, these things can sometimes be made in such a small batch they don't show up anywhere.
KungFuCharlie Posted July 24, 2010 Author Posted July 24, 2010 The date on it is 2003. Below are a few quick shots with my iPhone camera. 1
wildone_106 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Yea I dont think Lockheed is gonna approve that but appreciate the effort! TKMR Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 They just might if you mention it's for a specific group of simmers in anticipation of the Upcoming A-10C simulation. ;) Lead Admin/Founder of Kilo-Tango Gaming Community
KungFuCharlie Posted July 24, 2010 Author Posted July 24, 2010 You never know... large government contracts like Lockheed are all about public relations. When people feel good about them then their politicians feel good about them so they get more government contracts. That is why you see commercials for military jets and ships on TV... not like you can buy one yourself! Its all about putting on a good face for the public to help their business contracts in the future. So there is a chance. Maybe a very slim one... but it is there. :)
Mercury Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Sooner or later... its all (I mean ALL - everything) online cracked-wide-open ready for the taking, dowloading, pirating, call it what you want... its stealing. But yeah, I would like to have this collection too :music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Specs: i7 920, GTX295, 6GB Corsair Dominator 1600Mhz, 1TB WD, ASUS P6T Deluxe, 1000W Corsair PSU, Coolermaster Cosmos "S" case, X-52pro, TrackIR 4
jerda Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 +1 torrent. It's out of date anyway. :) Can u just upload clips on you tube?
sinelnic Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 @KungFuCharlie, I might be misunderstanding your question, but, have you tried contacting Locheed Martin directly? It might take a few mail interchanges between different offices until they find the corresponding one, but maybe worth a try? KungFuCharlie Posted July 25, 2010 Author Posted July 25, 2010 I've got an email out to Joe Hodges in hopes that he can provide information on where everyone can obtain it legally. I'll let you know if and when I get a response. Sorry, not going to torrent it without approval for reasons I won't discuss. :)
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Look forward to following this! I love any good A/C video! http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
KungFuCharlie Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 I got an email back from Joe... That DVD was produced in very limited numbers. I had it made from 16mm films I collected over the year. Lockeed Martin payed to have 500 made in 2003 for the A-10 world wide review held in Ogden Utah. There have been copies made over the years but only 500 have the orignal cardboard cover. Sorry but getting more with the cover is not possable but, you do have something special there. Joe Dice Hodges [/Quote] If all of you started sending Lockheed emails asking where you can buy a copy they might reproduce another limited set of them. Now that I know the one I have is a collectors item I won't be selling it on EBay!!
