Zorrin Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) So rather than splash out the money on a legitimate copy of Windows so I can bootcamp my Mac I am trying to WINE it using Crossover. Black Shark as successfully installed, and runs the GUI happily enough. Apart from the fact that it doesn't recognise the keyboard, but I have yet to plug in my external keyboard to see if that changes anything. So far with the Vanilla install I've tried the instant action, but get a couple of error codes (see attached images). I'm guessing this is because there's no StarForce activation. Has anyone found a way of getting StarForce to work under a WINE environment? Edit: According to the forums at Crossover StarForce probably won't ever work with it... Nate--IRL-- Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Starforce is unlikely to run under WINE, It won't even run in a virtual machine. The only possible chance of success may be with the Steam version that has no starforce. Even then I'd rate your chances as slim. bumfire Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I havent personally tried to run DCS/lockon under wine, but as Nate says, I seriously doubt that starforce would like it.
nscode Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 WINE - Windows Is Not Escapable :D Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Zorrin Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 I figured as much, but it was worth a shot at least. Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
