leafer Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 For those that have not heard of this title, it's free via Steam and is action packed. I live in Thailand, so my timezone neighbor, if you want to have a go online then let's set up a pack. Or if anyone know of any other free game or demo that sim head like us would enjoy then please post links. Thanks. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
zakobi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Dunno how much it is a sim, but there's AA3, tho i do find it to be a little too much biased at time. But what should i have expected? :D
Grimes Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Well in terms of free games a few oldies have gone free to play. Most notably the old Command and Conquer games are free for download here. http://www.commandandconquer.com/classic Also check out Mech Warrior 4. It would be considered a sim in about 20 years once Japan builds more giant fighting robots. Im sure there are a few others you can find. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Not much of a fan of this type of games, but I played couple of hours of Alien swarm during the weekend and it was fun. Sry we're not in the same timezone. leafer Posted August 16, 2010 Author Posted August 16, 2010 Was hoping to have a go with some intellectually matured people instead of kids that go through the entire mission with left mouse button pressed from start to end. Mech 4 works with win7 because I read, at Tom's, that it only works in XP. AA is up to version 3? Man, it's been a long time since I played the original. Thanks for the suggestions, people. deadsmell Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Hey Leafer, if you like the gameplay of Alien Swarm, you should check out the "Shadowgrounds" series. Dont let the smell get to ya...............
leafer Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 Will do. Thanks! ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
leafer Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Hey, download shadowgrounds demo and it's pretty darn good! Gonna buy from steam. Thanks again. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Bucic Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) Hey, download shadowgrounds demo and it's pretty darn good! Gonna buy from steam. Thanks again. Is it better than the Alien Swarm? It appears that SG has no MP... SoftPedia says AS requires... A full version of Unreal Tournament 2004 patched to version 3270 or higher is required to play Is that true? Edit: Play AS as FPP? :) Edited September 4, 2010 by Bucic F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
leafer Posted September 4, 2010 Author Posted September 4, 2010 It's not better - but it's not bad at all. Graphics are pretty dated though. I have no idea if it needed the Unreal patch. I installed Steam then Alien Swarm through Steam. It didn't ask me to install a patch. I discovered two days ago the things I can do in console command in Alien Swarm and FPS is one of them. :D I found out I could play other maps in offline mode as well. That rocks biggy. The downers are that graphics and movements in FP view aren't that great and not implemented very well. Your aim gets screwed after switching from character to character. You can get stuck if you accidentally walked in to your squad member. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

leafer Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 Ahh. You do not need UT2004 to play Alien Swarm. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

leafer Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Unless you get online, it gets repetitive after a while. Nothing grabs my attention like a good flight sim. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
