It already has self-escort capability. The AAM launch rails give you 4 AAMs, be they 9's or 120's. There's no point in taking up your A2G pylons with more AAMs IMHO.

Lol. I believe in a greater power. One that would create 8 x 120 on a f-15

It is possible to have 8x120's, every station can carry the 120, but good luck in finding a pic of it. I have searched and ask and have not seen what yet. http://www.f-16.net/f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-14721-sid-26f99dae3405b36c00559728e7b5f0c0.html

I don`t understand, what is this senseless dispute? If every station can carry the Amraam why do you guys need a picture to confirm what you already know? Apparently it`s not a typical payload, but that doesn`t mean it`s not possible. If the stations are compatible with Amraam, there you have the answer.

Some of this stems from many, many conversation of which is better, that missile or the other?

This happens every so many months. Every one has their favorite weapons/missile/aircraft and some people disagree ( standard on internet forums, isn't it?). I guess it comes with the love of combat aircraft.

P.S.

What I find funny is that many of the disputes are based on information found in the net ( not all but many). Most of us do not have actual performance numbers on this systems, only the operators the systems do. Something they are not likely to share on the net. The companies that create and sell this products of course used very specific type of stats, they are, after all, selling a product, but end up confusing or filling the web with more disinformation.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..

The history is such:

Hajduk kept throwing out these quotes from Yefim Gordon's books about R-27EA, as well as scans of some pictures that failed to show anything resembling a missile that could be unmisteakably identified as that type. They were photos of dummy missiles for the most part.

Having these photos, certain forum members researched the matter further, and so did ED, finally reaching some much more reliable sources to find out that the active alamo was a paper project.

Ever since then, Hajduk seems to desperately want to think and apply the idea that the only measure of proof is a photo since it was the beginning of the sinking of his active alamo dream ;)

As usual, #1.

SAMs failed to stop any significant amount of stealth aircraft sorties ... or non-stealth ones for that matter.

Because most of the sams were destroyed beforehand; unless I see a picture of an f-15 carrying 8 real; not dummies 120s we can say this myth is busted :P

This is not correct. Most Serb SAMs operated just fine 'round the clock. In Iraq, it was the F-117's that started destroying SAMs and command centers.

Incidentally, which myth are you referring to? The one propagated in the aircraft's -1? The crew chiefs? Armorers? Pilots? Official USAF web site? ;)

Now you know why topol-m. So can the F-15 carry an all AIM-120 loadout....yes. Pictures have shown it to be so, but will some people believe that....no and why.....cause they lost a fight they thought they would win. He'll never give up his little quest, but at least he is sticking to it :megalol:

WTH is going on in this thread? What do SAMs have to do with the number of Amraams F-15 can carry? And how could the lack of picture bust any "myth"? Not all evidence out there is pictures you know...

Well, there was a suggestion of F-15C's carrying PAC-3's ...

Ahem. Nothing. F-15's can carry 8 120's just like that, and that is all there is to it. There are no photos, but I'll see if I can ask someone to strap eight of those to an F-15 and snap a pic.

That doesn't count GG. It must be situation of operational aircraft, we must see it shoot all eight from each uderpoint too. Only then it will count as a "real proof".

... so there's no aircraft out there that can use it's entire payload of missiles? :D

It's ok, you stick to your rethoric, me, I'll stick to things that are useful to ED for simulating aircraft and reality for curiosity's sake.

Are 100% sure of that? if I'm not mistaking they had to do sneak launches because f-16 where ready to launch harm missiles on them, if that is not true why was an f-16 and f-117 shoot down the way they where shoot down.
