hreich Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Altittude level lock - on collective, what it is used for? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Pilot from Croatia
Frederf Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 It's a physical brake on the collective lever as well as an electronic signal to the ALT hold channel. In real life it keeps the collective in one position and the pilot squeezes the brake to move the lever. Holding the brake suspends the ALT hold channel and the ALT hold channel reacquires the next altitude to hold on lever release. 1
JasonJ Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) Is there anyway to determine/quantify what Alt Hold is set to? For example I am at 200m Radar Alt and I want to know at this point, did I set Alt Hold higher or lower than where I am at? I searched manual, but it only seems to mention that the HUD shows this info when in FD mode with the || lines. Also those Alt Hold lines "||" on the HUD don't show up in multiplayer server, only single player. || || || == Same for the R-Alt-Hold indicator above your head won't light up in multiplayer servers. Cheers. topdog Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) Deviation from last alt-hold point set with collective brake is shown as an amber triangle on the right edge of the artificial horizon indicator. You won't particularly know what the setting is at, but it will indicate if you're below (triangle is lower from center) or above (higher from the center) in an increasing scale. Pressing and then releasing the collective brake to set a new point then centers the triangle in the middle (almost, it's usually off a bit and appears down from center, probably due to parallax). Edited September 4, 2010 by topdog Clarifying moment of setting change.
