leafer Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I'm going to buy a copy and was wondering if I should get it from them. I know ED makes more money if I bought it direct through them but was wondering if bought from Steam would, somehow, have given ED some kind of exposure to the general public. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Bucic Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) I bought BS from Direct2Drive but only because it was 50% off. I didn't give much thought to other motives than price. Isn't it the case with Steam/Direct2Drive that you have to wait for a special 'Steam/Direct2Drive version' of each game update which usually comes with delay? leafer Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 HUH. Forgotten about Direct2Drive and anyway, it's 39.95 now. Actually, I'm going to buy 3X Terran Conflict off of steam and thought it might be beneficial for myself and ED if I bought BS there as well. It appears Steam doesn't take debit card so I'm getting it from ED. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
EtherealN Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 By debit card, do you mean like VISA Electron? In my country most cards that are technically speaking "debit cards" are actually regular VISA or MasterCard, but I understand that's different with some other countries. What I'd say with that in mind (from my own experience as a long-time Steam user) is that it doesn't really matter whether a card is credit or debit (in both cases they hook up to your bank account, it's just that one is linked to your regular bank account, and the other is linked to a credit account). The type of network the card is connected to does matter though, so if you managed to get a VISA Electron linked to a credit account it wouldn't work due to the "Electron" thing. leafer Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Thanks. Will try it tomorrow. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
joey45 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 my visa electron works.... unfortantaly i've brought more games then I should of The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. leafer Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 The more the merrier, so I used to think... I am desperately looking for something that will capture my imagination. The X3 Terran Conflict, from what I've read, might do it for me. Think I've lost the desire to game. Having said that, I still love a good flight sim. Flew around in BS for hours and I don't even have a joystick. That'll change soon...I'm getting a Suncom Talon from a certain someone here end of month. :D ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
Grimes Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Isn't it the case with Steam/Direct2Drive that you have to wait for a special 'Steam/Direct2Drive version' of each game update which usually comes with delay? With direct 2 drive its basically an image of the disk that you download. So no. With Steam it depends on the game. Some games are more heavily integrated into steam and require a specific patch to be applied. Black Shark is not one of these games. With all steam games you can turn off automatic updates and download and apply certain patches yourself. I did this with ARMA2. For the longest time one of their patches wasn't updated on the steam version, so I simply downloaded and installed the correct patch myself. 1 The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
