KillaALF Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Investigating the sector was fine. I'm talking about the main story of the game. I started as argon patriot (I think that's the title) Just did a start with argon patriot - right in the starting sector there is a ship named "Exterminator" hanging around - comm him and this will kick off the "Operation Final Fury" plot (destroying the Khaak). I was also immeditately contacted by some guy to do an escort mission for him - this looked like another starting point for a plot. 1
T.Goat Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Get X3:Terran Conflict - no point getting any of the others. It's an incredible game but you will spend hours perfecting fleet logistics and staring at figures...Then using spreadsheets to work out profit margins. It's effectively an empire building in space, not a space sim. But it really depends how you play it. You can easily sink a bunch hours into a game, all while staying in the smaller ships so that the game stays more "personal". Until your fight rank gets really high, there's not much that forces you to get into the big, hard to manage fleets.

The diplomats had left the first time I was in that sector. I went back and they were there again, and I did the mission. Now I know where it is, I can put the plot on hold and not worry about it for a while. I didn't want to spend ages building myself up if I'd somehow disabled the plot. The world is going mad. Me? I'm doing fine! http://www.twitch.tv/rusty_the_robot https://www.youtube.com/user/RustyRobotGaming
Succellus Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 The beauty of Open ended games, like The Elder Scrolls (TES - which started the trend of sandbox games (afaik)), Xterran, Evochron Mercenaries, and others is just that: YOu can play the way you want. Want to build an empire ? Ok Want to just hone your fighting skill to perfection OK. Want to save the world, fine, Couldn t care less about the world, fine too The only points such games seem to fail are: You can t join the Dark Side :( And There s always a Dark Side :( HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. Rusty_M Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 yeah, the option to play as xenon or ka'ak (sp?) could be cool. You can be a pirate though, which may not be dark, but it's at least grey. 98abaile Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 You can play as a kahk/ka'ak (sp?), but you need to unlock the start first.
