Seems like the IR R-27 is modelled more realisticly now. Before, you got a lock and launch signal as soon as the missille got within the range limits but now you will have to wait until the missille seekers has it own lock or else its a wasted missille. In a head on engagement this means that the TE is about as useful as the r-73. The 27 gets its lock at about the outer range limit of the r-73. I'm pretty sure this was not the case pre 1.1.

Havent seen any comments about this and thought it might be useful for some to know. Especially the dedicated F-15 driver who might not be aware of this change.

It's normal behaviour for me. At its limit range the target should not manoeuver in order for missile to score. If you want confirmed kill with this missile either you should gain an altitude or fly at super sonic when you lunch.

Sure, but that doesent matter as you wont get a lock. Before, with the TE's "magic" lock you could use it as an tactics advantage to force evasive manouvers, especially when up against 2 opponents. Now you simply dont get a launch authorization until close to the TE's "manoeuverable target" bar. And by then your almost wvr.

I didn't expect so many non-russian players.

What do you know about other modern-flight simulator, which can be comparable to LO?

I wonder how the TE is doing in 1.1 in Longitudinal Missile Aiming Mode (6) ?

What range? (With a super sonic launch?)

Away from the sun of course (IR)

We have F15C pilots in our squad, playing Lock-On 1.02 and they are complaining that after they upgraded from 1.01 to 1.02, their AIM120 is a stupid piece of lead, scoring almost zero hits while fighting against our MiG29S. I think, the missile physics were changed already in 1.02.

kind regards,

Raven....
